Role Overview
We are seeking an exceptional product leader to build and lead the Product Owner organization for Direct Distribution — a critical growth engine for Liberty Mutual across digital and call center sales.
This role sits at the center of strategy, technology, and execution. You will shape how Direct Distribution translates business priorities into product strategy and delivers outcomes at scale—driving growth, improving customer experience, and strengthening long-term economics.
You will define and lead a best-in-class product operating model, enabling faster decisions, sharper prioritization, and continuous improvement across the system. This is a unique opportunity to build a high-performing product organization and directly influence how Liberty Mutual competes and wins in the Direct channel.
You will operate in a clear partnership model with business leaders by translating defined business outcomes, priorities, and success metrics into product strategy, roadmap, and execution—ensuring the organization is building the right capabilities, in the right sequence, to deliver results.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business outcomes into product strategy: Convert Direct Distribution priorities into clear product strategies, roadmaps, and OKRs that drive growth, conversion, and customer value.
- Build a best-in-class product organization: Establish and scale modern product management practices, creating a disciplined, outcome-driven Product Owner function focused on delivering measurable impact.
- Own roadmap and prioritization: Lead product portfolio strategy, sequencing, and backlog decisions—balancing near-term performance with long-term system improvement.
- Drive business impact: Ensure product teams directly improve conversion, reduce friction across customer journeys, and strengthen unit economics.
- Lead end-to-end product execution: From discovery through delivery and optimization, ensure teams are building effective solutions and continuously improving based on data and learning.
- Partner across the ecosystem: Align closely with business leaders, technology, analytics, marketing, and operations to deliver integrated, end-to-end customer experiences across digital and call center channels.
- Collaborate across product organizations: Work closely with enterprise and platform Product Owner teams (e.g., telephony and shared capabilities) to align roadmaps, influence priorities, and ensure Direct Distribution needs are effectively represented and delivered.
- Establish operating discipline: Implement clear operating rhythms, decision rights, and execution standards that increase speed, accountability, and quality of decisions.
- Build and develop top talent: Recruit, coach, and elevate Product Owners into high-caliber product leaders with strong business acumen and ownership mindset.
- Enable the future state: Advance next-generation capabilities—including data, AI, platforms, and customer experience—that improve performance today while building for long-term scale.

- Serve as a key leader within Direct Distribution, shaping how strategy is translated into execution.
- Drive clarity on ownership, decision rights, and prioritization across a complex, matrixed environment.

The Team & Stakeholders
- Lead the Product Owner organization embedded within Direct Distribution.
- Partner closely with Direct Distribution leadership, who own channel strategy, performance, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with Technology, UX, Analytics, Marketing, and Operations teams to deliver results.
- Interface with enterprise and platform product teams to ensure alignment and leverage shared capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in product management, technology, consulting, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience leading Product Owner / Product Management teams at scale.
- Proven experience building or scaling modern product operating models and practices.
- Strong track record of delivering measurable business outcomes through product leadership.
- Deep expertise in Agile and modern product management practices.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and align cross-functional teams toward shared outcomes.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to connect product decisions to business impact.
- Passion for improving customer experiences and building high-performing teams.
