Description

We are looking for an Associate to join our State Filings team.

The State Filings team plays a key role in the implementation of new pricing and products within US Retail Markets by preparing, submitting, and assisting in the negotiation of proposed rating, rule, and forms changes through Department of Insurance filings and objection management.

As an Associate on the team, you will consult and provide recommendations on state filings strategy, prepare filings material accurately and timely, and drive the objection response process, coordinating across multiple stakeholder teams within prescribed timelines. Under general direction, you will provide superior analytical and project management support for countrywide initiatives and state operations. This includes idea generation, research & analytics, building cross-functional buy-in, presenting recommendations to leadership, and implementing solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and prepares accurate and timely filings materials for submission to state Departments of Insurance. Manages coordination and timely submission of responses to state inquiries (objections) related to filings.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge management for assigned states, coordinating and ensuring completion of any changes needed.
  • Researches and consults on state-specific filing strategy using a variety of resources including regulations, SERFF general instructions, historical internal objections and responses, and competitor filings and objections.
  • Monitors tasks and timelines, evaluates risks, provides recommendations and coordinates solutions.
  • Serves as a team member on short-term or low-complexity projects and occasionally leads own work streams.
  • May create PowerPoint presentations with recommendations and business impacts.
  • May prepare and deliver presentations to senior management.
  • Provides subject-matter expertise on key initiatives across multiple groups.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in an analytical discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business or Finance or qualitative subject such as Legal/Political Science/Insurance and some experience with quantitative analysis preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of business analysis and/or insurance related experience.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, decision making and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter able to conduct analysis with minimal direction.
  • Knowledge of insurance principles and concepts required.
  • Familiarity with generative AI and building assistants preferred.
  • Technical and regulatory knowledge of personal and small commercial lines insurance is a plus, as is knowledge of SERFF.
