Description
In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, data has emerged as the most valuable asset for driving innovation, enhancing customer experiences, and managing risk with unparalleled precision. At Liberty Mutual, we recognize that harnessing data’s full potential requires more than just technology — it demands robust data governance frameworks that ensure accuracy, security, compliance, and ethical use.
This is an exciting and pivotal moment to be part of our data maturity journey within the People, Purpose, and Brand Data Governance team. With regulatory environments becoming increasingly complex, consumer expectations soaring, and competitive pressures intensifying, effective data governance is no longer just a back-office function — it’s a strategic imperative that empowers smarter decision-making, unlocks new growth opportunities, and safeguards our reputation.
This position plays a key role in establishing, executing, and improving our Data Governance framework across multiple talent-related source applications supported by the People, Purpose, and Brand Data Office. This includes monitoring and improving the quality, integrity, and timeliness of our operational and analytical data for use across the enterprise, encompassing existing datasets as well as establishing new data pipelines as business needs emerge. This role requires strong attention to detail, communication skills, stakeholder management, and the ability to work concurrently across many workstreams with limited direction. The position also plays a key role in cultivating a data-focused mentality across other functional areas, advancing our operational maturity.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and a collaborative approach, enabling effective partnership with both technical teams and business stakeholders. They will be a curious, proactive problem-solver with a commitment to continuous learning, capable of navigating complex data challenges and adapting to evolving regulatory requirements. Strategic thinking and accountability are essential, as this individual will align data stewardship efforts with broader business objectives to ensure trusted, compliant, and value-driven data use across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Strengthen and automate data management controls, incorporating both short-term needs and long-term support strategies.
- Perform routine data investigations to profile and analyze data sets, addressing data quality and integrity issues.
- Build and implement tools to monitor data quality.
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Tech teams to establish new, and enhance existing, data pipelines into our Snowflake-based analytical warehouse.
- Manage security measures that enable data access restrictions.
- Define and document data element definitions, including associated metadata.
- Evaluate processes for gaps and inefficiencies, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Leverage data to solve business use cases, including packaging and communicating recommendations clearly and concisely.
- Design and execute iterative solution testing to ensure desired product specifications are met.
