Description
The Property & Specialty UW Effectiveness team is looking for a team member who will play an active role in helping to deliver underwriting solutions to enable profitable growth. As part of the Operational Excellence Team, this role will focus on defining and managing our "human in the loop" UW strategy across brands for our Specialty products through data supported analysis and project management. This role will drive benefit across the entire policy lifecycle by developing and deploying underwriting controls that ensure data accuracy and help us evaluate and mitigate complex risk within our portfolio. This role requires stakeholder management and strong collaboration across Specialty, Distribution, Solution Delivery, Service, and Claims to effectively drive work forward. This role will have senior management visibility and will present findings to leadership. Responsibilities
- Defines project strategy and overall project plan.
- Conducts moderate to high complexity analysis under minimal direction.
- Queries data to conduct ad hoc analysis of metrics.
- Builds tools and queries for others to use.
- Performs the underlying analysis on projects important to the SBU.
- Provides recommendations on the appropriate tools and techniques to perform analysis.
- Leads own workstreams on moderate to high complexity projects including members within and outside team.
- Conducts competitive intelligence and understands market trends
- Monitors and interprets developments, and use to inform strategic direction
- Serves as ad hoc resource for less experienced analysts. Mentors’ others as requested.
- May, with limited supervision, conduct analysis to evaluate and implement vendor products.
- Using information gathered from analysis and research, provides franchise tactical recommendations on a countrywide basis for distribution channels while supporting changes for unique situations.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field
- Minimum 6 years relevant work experience, typically 8 years
- PhD or equivalent research beneficial
- Expert skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (eg, SAS, Emblem)
- Must have exceptional planning, analytical, decision making, communication, and project management skills
- Experience managing projects preferred
