The Position
The Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) strategy invests holistically across the infrastructure landscape including real asset, services, and technology opportunities spanning power, midstream, energy transition, digital, transportation, utilities, and products. The team's mandate is to deliver compelling, risk-adjusted returns with strong downside protection and significant upside potential. E&I leverages subject matter expertise, ability to underwrite complexity, speed to execute, and a peer-oriented go-to-market strategy to establish itself as a differentiated partner of choice. This hire will be an experienced investment professional contributing to deal execution across a variety of transaction types, with responsibility for driving investment performance, developing actionable ideas, and supporting E&I’s future growth strategy as a key member of the team.
Responsibilities:
- Execute value-add infrastructure equity transactions with a focus on directs and co-investments as well as fund and platform opportunities
- Support all aspects of deal execution including sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, structuring, management of the investment committee process, legal documentation, and asset management
- Manage multiples projects at a time
- Work with external partners as well as LMI’s legal, asset allocation, risk, and accounting & operations teams to develop customized investment opportunities and strategic partnerships
- Engage with external counterparties and market participants to enhance E&I’s presence in the space
- Contribute to relative value discussions across the organization, articulating investment theses and thematic views to inform optimal risk-adjusted returns for the overall portfolio
- Promote a culture of collaboration and be willing to work cross-functionally to add value across the organization
- Pursue and support the development of technology, data, and analytics needed to support the role
- Mentor and develop analysts and associates on the team, serving as an established resource for professional growth
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience in private equity infrastructure investments, including sourcing, structuring, execution, and management of complex transactions
- Deep analytical rigor with the ability to evaluate risk across a range of transactions and provide detailed support for investment recommendations
- Proven track record of investment execution with the ability to articulate strategies and thematic issues impacting the energy and infrastructure markets
- Ability to influence investment idea generation, structuring, and negotiations; demonstrates leadership in persuasive communication skills to drive outcomes across deal teams and external constituents
- Established network connections with investors, management teams, and advisors across the infrastructure landscape
- Experience supporting initial business plan reviews all the way through execution
- Strong organizational skills and broad awareness of how their work fits into investment processes; ability to engage across teams, and articulate core goals and portfolio strategies within the asset class
- Possess exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- High-performing team player with a willingness to be flexible and take on additional responsibilities depending on the needs of the business
