Description
About the Role
The Claims Data Products team is seeking a Data Steward (Assistant Director, Data Management) who is passionate about data quality, governance, and continuous improvement. In this role, you’ll help ensure claims data is accurate, secure, well-documented, and ready to support business, analytics, and enterprise governance needs.
This is an opportunity for someone who understands the value of well-governed data, enjoys solving complex problems, and is energized by improving how work gets done. You’ll help shape how Claims data is classified, documented, prioritized, and managed, while also contributing to broader governance initiatives across the enterprise. A strong interest in automation, AI, and scalable ways of working will help you succeed in this role.
**This role may have in-office requirements depending on candidate location**
Candidates who live within 50 miles of Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Seattle, WA; Columbus, OH; or Plano, TX will follow a hybrid schedule, coming into the office two days per week. Otherwise, this role is remote
What You’ll Do:
- Govern Claims data to support quality, consistency, and responsible use.
- Investigate and resolve complex data quality and integrity issues.
- Support data classification, documentation, and access controls.
- Help identify and prioritize data products and governance work aligned to business needs.
- Partner with stakeholders to support outages, product launches, and data change coordination.
- Contribute to governance roadmaps, planning, and enterprise workstreams.
- Improve processes through automation and AI-enabled solutions.
- Collaborate with business and technology partners to deliver sustainable, scalable solutions.
- Help define and track meaningful measures of impact, including time saved and process improvement.
What You Bring:
- Strong knowledge of Claims data, processes, and operational needs.
- Experience in data governance, stewardship, data quality, or documentation.
- Ability to analyze complex data issues and identify practical solutions.
- Understanding of data security, metadata, lineage, and classification concepts.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to partner across teams.
- A continuous improvement mindset and interest in automation and AI.
- Comfort working in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in insurance, claims, or other regulated data environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise governance initiatives, data tools, or workflow improvement efforts.
- Experience supporting data classification, documentation, or data product launches
Why This Role Matters:
Claims data supports some of the most important decisions and operations across the organization. When Claims data is accurate, secure, and well-governed, teams can move faster, make better decisions, and reduce risk. This role plays a key part in making that happen.
As a Steward, you’ll help ensure that critical data products are ready for use, that sensitive information is handled appropriately, and that data issues are identified and resolved quickly. Your work will directly support business partners, technology teams, analytics, and enterprise governance efforts. Just as importantly, you’ll help drive the adoption of better tools, smarter processes, and more efficient ways of working so the organization can scale governance with confidence.
