The Manager of Ceded Reinsurance Claims is a leadership role responsible for overseeing three core areas of reinsurance operations: ceded claims management, collateral oversight, cash management and billing & collections. The role ensures accurate and timely reporting of ceded claims, effective management of statutory collateral requirements, and efficient billing and recovery of reinsurance funds.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical reinsurance expertise, proven leadership capability, and a collaborative mindset to engage cross-functionally with Underwriting, Finance, Legal, Credit, and Actuarial teams, as well as external reinsurers and brokers. This role plays a critical part in process improvement, regulatory compliance, and strategic support across all ceded reinsurance operations.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all aspects of the reinsurance claims operations, provides technical advice to the reinsurance claims staff.
• Manages development and implementation of technical reinsurance claims procedures and policies for promptly identifying, reporting, updating, collecting, and accounting for reinsurance claims.
• Manages development and monitors results of all reinsurance programs including monitoring ceded reserving, letters of credit, timely billing and collections, and commutation/liquidation management to ensure the maximum ceded reinsurance claims financial benefit to Liberty Mutual.
• Responsible for ensuring effective communications with Business Units, Finance, Legal and Claims Management on ceded reinsurance claims issues and financial impacts to Liberty Mutual.
• Develops and maintains effective long term working relationships with Liberty Mutual's foreign and domestic reinsurers and brokers.
• Develops and recommends ceded reinsurance claims strategies to the Reinsurance Operations Financial Officer and Managers.
• Responsible for personnel management and development of the reinsurance claims staff.
