Description

USRM Technology is searching for a passionate, strategic, and transformational Sr. Director, Engineering, leading the Personal Lines Policy Portfolio. This leader will own and drive product and technology strategy across the full policy ecosystem, including Policy Lifecycle Management, Policy Data Management, Policy Provisioning, Product Definition, Forms Definition, and the critical modernization strategies and plans that support both the Direct and Independent Agent ecosystems.

Managing a large-scale portfolio with approximately $30–40M in annual investment, the Sr. Director will lead teams of technology professionals and partner closely with cross-functional leaders across USRM to define, deliver, and support modern, scalable, and business-aligned technology solutions used by agents, underwriters, customers, and internal teams across our U.S. Personal Lines operations. These initiatives are fundamental to enable Personal Lines Product growth of ~30% by 2030 while protecting profitability and enabling critical investments for Distribution, Service, Claims, and Billing.

The Sr. Director will play a key role in shaping and advancing our multi-year transformational journey, Frontier, to simplify and modernize our product offering, technology landscape, and operating model.

About the role:

The leader in this role will:

  • Lead: Serve as a strategic technology leader, coach, and mentor for a high-performing engineering team. Attract and build talent and create an environment where teams can deliver with clarity, accountability, and urgency.
  • Strategize: Define and advance the technology strategy, modernization roadmap, and long-term vision for the suite of policy capabilities across Policy Lifecycle Management, Policy Data Management, Policy Provisioning, Product Definition, Forms Definition, and related platforms. Translate business priorities, user expectations, and industry trends into technology strategies that enable growth, profitability, both in the short and in the long term.
  • Analyze, Decide, and Execute: Use data-driven insights, business cases, engineering metrics, operational health, and risk indicators to make informed portfolio decisions, prioritization, and drive execution. Ensure teams deliver measurable outcomes, modernize critical platforms, improve resiliency and speed to market.
  • Collaborate: Build trusted partnerships across USRM Technology, Personal Lines Product, Service, Claims, Billing, Operations, Architecture, and peer portfolio teams to align priorities, remove barriers, manage dependencies, and deliver end-to-end solutions. Balance the needs of multiple stakeholders while ensuring technology decisions remain aligned to business strategy and long-term architectural direction.
  • Transform: Play a key leadership role in shaping and advancing Frontier, USRM’s multiyear transformational journey to simplify and modernize our product offering, policy capabilities, technology landscape, and ways of working.
  • External support: Develops and maintains a network of industry contacts and vendor relationships. Uses insights and contacts to strategically augment our teams to deliver on outcomes with flexibility.
  • Present and Influence: Communicate frequently with senior leaders, executives, peers, and cross-functional stakeholders to build alignment around portfolio vision, strategy, investment decisions, tradeoffs, risks, and outcomes. Bring clarity to complex topics and influence decisions across a broad and senior stakeholder group.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in technical or business discipline or related experience; Master's Degree preferred
  • Generally a minimum of 15 years related experience with 5 years in leadership role desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies and their application to business opportunities
  • In-depth knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies
  • In-depth knowledge of project planning methodologies and tools and IT standards and guidelines
  • Advanced knowledge of management concepts, practices and techniques
  • Ability to promote a team environment consisting of several teams
  • Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
