Description

Hiring Manager: Christopher Lund

At Liberty Mutual, we’re transforming how technology teams build, measure, and operate software so we can move faster, scale smarter, and deliver even greater value to our customers. This is an opportunity to lead in an environment that combines the scale and stability of a Fortune 100 company with the energy, pace, and innovation mindset of a modern technology organization.

We’re looking for a leader who can help shape the future of software delivery — someone who brings a modern perspective on reliability, scalability, observability, quality and talent development. In this role, you will lead teams supporting software delivery enablement within GRS NA/Surety & Modernization, with primary support for the GRS Tech Mod program.

This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who enjoys building strong teams, modernizing engineering practices, and creating an environment where people and platforms can thrive. You’ll partner closely with Product, Architecture, Scrum, and business leaders to improve GRS developers ship software faster and more reliably, strengthen delivery outcomes, and help teams become more automated, resilient, and future-ready.

The right candidate will bring experience guiding larger technical teams through transformation and scaling our impact through a combination of technology and vendor partner offshore models. Just as importantly, you’ll know how to develop talent, remove friction, and create a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and inspire squads focused on software delivery enablement, specifically the acceleration of modern software delivery though AI-driven quality, performance, observability, and resiliency capabilities.
  • Manage a team of 15+ engineers and related resources, aligning talent to the most important priorities.
  • Hire, coach, develop, and retain strong talent while helping build a high-performing team culture.
  • Partner with vendor offshore teams to drive scale, consistency, accountability, and seamless delivery.
  • Help shape the future of the team by identifying skill gaps, reskilling talent, and supporting organizational transformation.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Architects, and business partners to align execution with business goals and product vision.
  • Use meaningful KPIs to measure delivery effectiveness, reliability, and team health.
  • Champion modern engineering practices that improve automation, observability, performance, scalability, and resilience.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching that helps team members grow and succeed.
  • Remove blockers, manage dependencies, and improve the flow of delivery across teams.
  • Support performance conversations, development planning, and growth opportunities.
  • Create space for mentoring, stretch assignments, rotations, and special projects.
  • Build strong partnerships across technology, business, and vendor organizations.
  • Champion agile practices and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to operating plans, technology strategy, and investment decisions.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

We’re especially interested in leaders who bring:

  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience
  • Experience leading larger teams of 15+ engineers
  • Comfort working in vendor and offshore delivery models
  • A modern perspective on software delivery, reliability, quality, observability, and performance
  • Experience driving talent transformation through reskilling, team redesign, or capability building
  • Strong collaboration and influence skills across product, architecture, engineering, and business partners
  • The ability to lead through change while keeping teams engaged, aligned, and accountable

Why This Role

This is a great opportunity for a leader who wants to do more than manage day-to-day execution. In this role, you’ll help shape how teams build and operate software, influence how talent grows and evolves, and contribute to a broader modernization effort with real business impact.

If you’re energized by leading teams through transformation, elevating engineering practices, and building a future-ready organization, this role offers meaningful scope and the chance to make a visible difference.
