Hiring Manager - Brooke Sokolnicki
Job introduction:
As a Solutions Engineer supporting the Global Legal and Compliance portfolio, you will help shape the technical direction for compliance, privacy and financial crimes systems. You will partner with internal business stakeholders, vendors and engineering teams across Liberty Mutual to guide solution design, influence technical standards, strengthen delivery practices, build and evolve an operational support model, and improve production support across strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations.
This role will support key strategic initiatives, including OFAC modernization aligned to North Star Architecture, global scaling of the OneTrust privacy platform, enterprise records management, a roadmap strategy for compliance-related vendor applications, and efforts to expand and consolidate the global financial crimes sanctions portfolio through new FinScan API adoption and implementation with the vendor partner.
You will initially align to an Agile scrum team focused on Global Compliance & Ethics development and support initiatives, with future alignment shaped by portfolio priorities and evolving organizational structure. You will help set direction for solution architecture, technical design, integration patterns and operational resiliency, while also providing initial review and diagnosis of Horizons tickets and security-related initiatives to clarify impact, identify required squad actions, and communicate clear next steps to both the delivery team and senior stakeholders as needed.
We encourage you to apply if you bring senior technical leadership, strong collaboration skills, and a continuous improvement mindset to complex engineering environments.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong experience translating business needs into technical requirements, solution architecture and scalable design patterns.
- Ability to evaluate complex systems across legacy, modern, cloud-based and vendor-managed SaaS environments.
- Experience designing secure, resilient cloud-based architectures, integration patterns and platform solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors and enterprise partners.
- Ability to assess impact, diagnose issues and guide team action across concurrent delivery, production support and security-related initiatives.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance immediate delivery needs, operational support and long-term platform goals.
- Strong background in business operations and technology strategy, including knowledge of global business, technology trends and the financial services industry; experience in Compliance, Privacy or Financial Crimes is preferred.
- Forward-thinking approach with a strong understanding of emerging technologies and the ability to identify opportunities that improve efficiency, strengthen delivery and support continuous improvement.
- Experience building and maturing operational support models across internal teams and vendors, including support tiering, escalation paths, SLAs/OLAs, runbooks, and production readiness practices.
- Strong senior leadership communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex technical issues, risks, and tradeoffs into clear recommendations for executive and business leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 10+ years of software engineering experience with focus on Backend development and Vendor product configuration and including production delivery of large-scale distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with multiple high-level programming languages (TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, React, SQL, etc.); full-stack experience is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with database development, relational and NoSQL databases (Postgres SQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB).
- Experience with platform modernization initiatives including microservices, cloud deployment and technologies such as AWS, Java, NodeJS, Spring Boot.
- Proven experience building and operating services on AWS (CDK, Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Aurora, S3, SQS, SNS, IAM).
- Hands-on experience deploying applications to cloud using CI/CD pipeline and using DevOps tools.
- Hands-on familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools or prompt engineering techniques (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLM-based assistants).
- Strong experience writing tools, interacting with APIs, and automating systems.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-tuning skills.
- History of leading complex technical initiatives across multiple systems or integration layers and influencing technical direction without formal authority.
- Experience working across teams to standardize engineering approaches and enterprise platform considerations (security, identity, scalability).
Preferred (Nice-to-have)
- Experience working across multiple vendor products to identify self-service opportunities, establish robust Level 1 support models and recommend consolidations that reduce ongoing squad support needs.
- Prior exposure to the adoption and incorporation of enterprise records management including the ERM Playbook and LM’s sidecar.
- Experience evaluating AI-assisted engineering tools for enterprise adoption and establishing patterns and best practices for their use.
- Experience evaluating or adopting engineering tools/platforms at scale.
- Experience automating manual processes - either in business workflows, technical engineering tasks, or both. An ideal candidate would have experience identifying opportunities for automation; implementing automation solutions, using generative AI, traditional coding, or vendor automation tools; validating and measuring the accuracy of the automated workflows; and measuring the resulting time savings.
