This is a leadership role responsible for portfolio-level change governance, cross-functional integration, and adoption outcomes across an enterprise-critical set of initiatives. The Director serves as the central point of accountability for how change lands across the business—ensuring alignment, coordination, and sustained adoption across a highly interdependent portfolio.
This role leads a combined Process Optimization and Change Management capability, partnering across underwriting, operations, product, distribution, claims, and data to both define how work should be done and ensure it is effectively executed at scale for frontline underwriting and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Governance & Integration
- Own prioritization, cross-functional alignment, and dependency management across a portfolio of 20+ active, enterprise-critical initiatives.
- Serve as the single point of accountability for integration across initiatives, ensuring coordinated execution across a highly interdependent set of work.
- Establish and enforce governance, operating discipline, and decision frameworks to drive clarity on ownership, sequencing, and tradeoffs.
- Partner with business and Operations leadership to identify, shape, and prioritize initiatives, including development of business cases, scope, and expected outcomes.
- Partner with senior leaders to align change demand with business capacity, proactively managing absorption risk.
- Ensure consistent application of change and process standards across all initiatives within the portfolio.
Change Management Leadership
- Define and lead enterprise change management strategies, frameworks, and methodologies across GRS North America.
- Partner with executive sponsors and business leaders to shape the change vision, case for change, and adoption strategy.
- Lead change planning across major initiatives, including:
- Change impact assessments
- Stakeholder and readiness analyses
- Risk identification and mitigation planning
- Design and execute communication, engagement, and training strategies to drive awareness, adoption, and reinforcement.
- Establish and track metrics for adoption, proficiency, and business value realization; adjust strategies based on insights.
- Proactively manage resistance and ensure clear, consistent messaging across leadership levels.
- Integrate change management into program governance, delivery timelines, and milestone tracking.
Process Optimization & Operational Enablement
- Lead a process optimization capability that defines target-state ways of working aligned to business strategy and technology enablement.
- Partner across functions to identify and implement process improvements that drive measurable operational and customer outcomes.
- Own North America process maps and supporting capability frameworks as the system of record for current and target state operations.
- Ensure alignment between process design, change execution, and business adoption.
Enterprise Change Capability & Thought Partnership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to GRS North America executives on organizational change, operating models, and transformation priorities.
- Strengthen enterprise change capability through coaching, standards, tools, and best practices.
- Lead change efforts for large-scale initiatives including operating model evolution, technology transformation, AI-enabled workflows, and strategic partnerships, ensuring effective transition and adoption.
People Leadership
- Provide direct leadership for the Process Optimization and Change Management team, including prioritization, delivery oversight, and capacity management.
- Develop and mentor talent, building a strong pipeline of change and process leaders.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in change management, process optimization, strategy, or transformation roles, with a focus on enterprise-scale initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing complex, cross-functional portfolios.
- Experience operating in highly matrixed environments with senior stakeholder engagement.
- Commercial or specialty insurance experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Deep expertise in change management methodologies (e.g., Prosci/ADKAR, Kotter).
- Strong process improvement capabilities (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent).
- Proven ability to manage large, interdependent portfolios with competing priorities.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing, and executive communication skills.
- Strong governance, prioritization, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity while driving clarity, ownership, and execution.
Preferred Certifications
- Prosci Change Management Certification, CCMP, Lean/Six Sigma, or equivalent.
Qualifications
- Advanced level of knowledge of financial analysis, marketing, technology, strategic planning, management
- Strong written and oral communication skills to aid in interactions with senior management, other departments, and industry
- Capabilities required include resiliency, adaptability, self-confidence, organized, achievement-orientated, collaborative, and openness to new experiences
- Knowledge, skills are other capabilities are typically acquired through an MBA or equivalent and at least 10 years experience, some which should be in a top-tier strategy consulting role
