Description

The Business Analyst II supports Helmsman Third Party Administrator (TPA) carrier operations as a member of Helmsman's Carrier and Data Analytics Team within the TPA Administration Department. This role serves as the primary day-to-day relationship manager for assigned Carrier Partners and plays a critical role in ensuring operational excellence, data accuracy, compliance with carrier requirements, and strong carrier engagement.

The position combines relationship management, data analysis, audit oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to support carrier objectives and drive continuous improvement across Helmsman. Key responsibilities include managing carrier relationships, validating and resolving data issues, coordinating carrier audits, and partnering with internal stakeholders to advance carrier priorities and enhance service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship manager for assigned Carrier Partners. Collaborate directly with carrier TPA oversight teams to manage ongoing business relationships, promote Helmsman's capabilities, and address operational issues at both the account and portfolio levels.

  • Build and maintain strong carrier relationships by consistently delivering exceptional service, responsiveness, and operational support.

  • Ensure compliance with carrier claims handling standards and operational requirements across Helmsman and its business partner organizations.

  • Respond to carrier inquiries promptly and within established service-level expectations. Prepare and deliver reports, questionnaires, and other required materials in accordance with carrier timelines.

  • Partner with Data Analytics, Service, and Operations teams to review carrier data for accuracy and completeness, identify discrepancies, implement corrective actions, and obtain carrier approvals for takeover accounts.

  • Lead and coordinate carrier audit activities, ensuring Helmsman is accurately represented, audit requirements are met, and findings are effectively addressed and mitigated.

  • Collaborate with Claims Operations and other business stakeholders to prepare audit responses, rebuttals, corrective action plans, and supporting documentation. Track remediation efforts to ensure deficiencies are resolved in a timely and sustainable manner.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency. Support and lead strategic projects and initiatives that enhance carrier satisfaction, operational effectiveness, and overall TPA performance.

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and alignment among internal teams to support carrier priorities, resolve complex issues, and achieve business objectives.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
  • Experience working with carrier partners, claims operations, audits, compliance, data analysis, or TPA operations is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills, as well as effective team-building abilities.
  • Solid understanding of business operations, including the function's value chain and relevant market conditions, strongly preferred.
  • Background in commercial insurance claims handling preferred, with particular emphasis on Workers' Compensation experience.
