Description
North America Programs is scaling from approximately $200M to $1B in GWP by 2030 across a rapidly expanding delegated authority portfolio of 100+ MGA and TPA partners. The Bordereaux Data Governance & Reporting Manager is the hands-on owner of the standards, data quality, and reporting engine that keeps this portfolio running accurately and at scale.
This is an individual-contributor role with matrixed influence. It serves as the primary day-to-day contact for bordereaux standards, onboarding, data quality, portfolio-rule monitoring, and reporting — operating and enforcing the standards, controls, and reporting within the North America Programs bordereaux operating model. The role manages non-cyclical and varied process-change and automation projects across the project management life cycle, working through influence rather than direct authority, and partners closely with London Bordereaux Operations, the NA Data & Analytics Office, Underwriting, Finance, Transaction Accounting, Reinsurance, Claims, Compliance, and external MGA/TPA partners.
Job Responsibilities
1. Bordereaux standards & data governance — Maintain and version canonical bordereaux templates, mappings, and data governance requirements across MGA/TPA partners; own the data dictionary and master BDX templates across all BDX types; operate schema governance and coordinate data requirement changes across internal stakeholders, partners, and Liberty systems.
3. Onboarding, integrations & platform coordination — Lead hands-on bordereaux onboarding for new MGA/TPA partners (mapping, testing, validation, operational readiness); produce onboarding packs, test cases, and cutover plans; coordinate day-to-day with London Bordereaux Operations and the Data Office on issue resolution and execution.
4. Data quality & controls — Set up and maintain validation rules, field-level checks, and thresholds; oversee the mapping and validation process end-to-end; run root-cause analysis on recurring errors and implement preventative controls.
5. Portfolio monitoring — Create, maintain, and report automated rules and alerts to proactively monitor adherence to underwriting guidelines and TPA limits of authority; operate the escalation path, surfacing exceptions and breaches to Underwriting, Operations, and Compliance.
6. Reporting & operational insights — Serve as the primary hands-on liaison to the NA Data & Analytics Office for dashboards, management information, and reporting; own the reporting workstream and ensure data accuracy across all reports; build and maintain a report inventory and health dashboards.
7. Special projects / project management — Identify process improvement opportunities and lead / serve as project manager for process-change and automation projects across the full project life cycle (initiating, planning, executing, close-out), coordinating matrixed resources and applying continuous improvement methodologies including lessons learned.
8. Stakeholder management — Build consensus and gain buy-in across a matrixed set of stakeholders; escalate and resolve roadblocks; provide visibility into trade-offs and influence recommended approaches.
The selected candidate should live within 50 miles of our Boston, MA office to be able to come into the office two days per week.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7+ years in insurance bordereaux or data operations, insurance data management, or a similar field (experience with MGA/TPA partners preferred). Strong working knowledge of bordereaux formats (BDX/CSV), the bordereaux lifecycle, and common premium/claims/cession fields. Hands-on experience with data ingestion, validation, and basic transformations (SQL or equivalent) and with defining and maintaining data standards, schema governance, and data dictionaries. Experience with partner onboarding and cross-functional coordination with Finance, Reinsurance, and Underwriting.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects across the project management life cycle, including process-change and automation initiatives; project management certification or equivalent work experience preferred. Advanced communication, organizational, analytical, critical-thinking, and relationship-management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate without direct authority in a matrixed environment. Comfortable operating between business and technical teams. Knowledge of Power BI / Tableau for dashboarding and exposure to policy administration systems (PAS) and accounting systems desirable, as is familiarity with quota-share/cession concepts and reinsurance bordereaux. Competencies typically acquired through a Bachelor's degree and equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
