Description

This position requires two in-office days per week for candidates who reside within 50 miles of Columbus, OH; Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Indianapolis, IN; or Plano, TX.

The One Global Ledger (OneGL) Program is a large and complex finance system transformation program that is focused on the delivery of a global solution for the Liberty Mutual Finance organization. The OneGL landscape will be focused on the implementation of the SAP application suite as the core Finance and Treasury system. The SAP modules will include the General Ledger, Financial Products Subledger (FPSL), Profitability and Performance Management (PaPM), Accounts Payable, Treasury, and Reporting.

The OneGL Procure to Pay (P2P) team is looking for an experienced Product Owner to lead production support across our P2P capabilities. This is a lead role within our Business-As-Usual (BAU) support model. This individual will bridge strategy and execution – assessing where new functionality should come to life – while maintaining production stability across everything that is live today. The role will serve as a credible counterpart and partner to current and future P2P delivery releases, determining how functionality needs to change and integrate between what is live in production today and what is being implemented across those releases.

Responsibilities:

  • Bridge strategy and execution, assessing where and how new functionality should come to life within the P2P capabilities.
  • Maintain production stability across all live P2P capabilities, monitoring product health and proactively identifying issues before they impact the business.
  • Serve as a credible counterpart and partner to current and future P2P delivery releases, determining how functionality needs to change and integrate between what is live in production today and what is being implemented across those releases.
  • Own and maintain the product backlog and are accountable for its contents and prioritization; ensure clear, actionable user stories.
  • Work daily with the agile working group, clarifying business requirements, removing roadblocks, and constantly communicating to support alignment around product strategy.
  • Set priorities and actively participate in squad/team and portfolio quarterly planning; set stakeholder expectations for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionality.
  • Lead IT and business leadership to align development and business goals and priorities while working with stakeholders and the squad/team to remove roadblocks to execution.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable in a backlog refinement session and in front of finance leadership. This is a production support lead role, keeping live P2P capabilities stable while shaping what changes next – and knowing the difference between an urgent fix and a genuine enhancement.

  • 7 or more years in business, technology, or consulting, including 5 to 7 years of direct experience working with Agile teams as a Product Owner or in an equivalent role; Bachelor’s degree required, typically in business, computer science, or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven ownership of a product backlog, including clear and actionable user stories, disciplined prioritization, and the ability to defend sequencing decisions to stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting live production systems, including issue triage, root cause follow-through, and balancing BAU demand against release commitments; steady under pressure and quick to clear roadblocks for the squad rather than escalate them.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated ability to build stakeholder relationships, influence across organizational boundaries without relying on formal authority, and translate complex integration issues for a business audience.
  • Comfortable making decisions with some level of uncertainty, leading varied audiences to a shared decision, and bringing a strong experimental mindset that seeks out opportunities for improvement.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP finance modules and knowledge of the P2P product portfolio strongly preferred; knowledge of the insurance industry preferred.
  • Experience partnering with other Product Owners across concurrent releases, reconciling what is live in production with what those release teams are implementing, and experience on a large finance or enterprise resource planning (ERP) transformation program, both preferred.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Agile development methodologies as typically acquired through a Bachelors’ degree in relevant field (business, computer science, humanities etc.), 7 years in business, technology, or consulting with 5 to 7 years direct experience with agile teams
  • Master's degree preferred
  • High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities for product and understand business value impacts
  • Develops strong stakeholder relationships and influencing across multiple organizational boundaries
  • Demonstrated experience leading varied audiences through the development of complex ideas, issues and designs
  • Ability to lead varied audiences through census building
  • Proven experience with Agile practices and expectations
  • Comfortable with making decisions with some level of uncertainty
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of insurance industry preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio strongly preferred
  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amongst uncertainty and exploit market opportunities
