Description

We are looking for a highly motivated, strategically minded leader to join our U.S. Retail Markets (USRM) Small Commercial Line of Business Management team. This is a highly visible role at all levels of the organization, responsible for driving Commercial Property franchise strategy, guiding profit and loss and the overall financial health of the line, building market-leading products, capabilities, and product experiences, and staying ahead of emerging threats such as severe storm exposures. In parallel, this leader will also keep a pulse on our in-market Businessowner line/products as they transition from new business to an inforce-only book with the build of our new Businessowner product, ensuring strategy is shaped holistically across all offerings. This leader separately manages our Small Commercial-wide Vendor Strategy and Operations team responsible for our vendor relationships, contracts, invoicing and third-party data opportunities in alignment with business strategies. Altogether, this is a role with real room to shape not just where Commercial Property goes next, but how it contributes to the future of Small Commercial as a whole.

Candidates who live within 50 miles of our Boston, Portsmouth, Columbus, Plano or Seattle offices will be on-site two days per week.

As a member of the Small Commercial Line of Business Management leadership team and as the Commercial Property leader, you will lead with empathy, integrity, and courage to positively impact the employee experience and foster a high-performing, inclusive and equitable culture.

Responsibilities:

· Guide the countrywide P&L for the Commercial Property and BOP lines of business, partnering with State teams to execute strategy, drive initiatives, and deliver profitable growth.

· Develop our franchise Commercial Property and BOP line of business strategies and work cross-functionally to drive alignment and execution.

· Keep a pulse on in-market Businessowners products to ensure alignment with our holistic Property, General Liability and Small Commercial strategies.

· Direct product design strategy for the Commercial Property line as it relates to our new Businessowner product, ensuring alignment with the broader Property line of business strategy.

· Develop and maintain a strong awareness of the competitive landscape and emerging trends within the Commercial Property line of business and the broader small commercial market.

· Develop and maintain strong relationships with our vendor partners, manage vendor contracts and renewals in alignment with business objectives, ensure accurate invoicing and payments, proactively identify third-party data opportunities in alignment with business strategies to surface for business evaluation and partner closely with business teams to bring third-party data opportunities to market.

· Work extensively with key stakeholders across Small Commercial and USRM to establish high-trust and highly collaborative partnerships, understand business needs, vet opportunities, and deliver analytically based recommendations to drive action in alignment with our organizational priorities.

· Analyze trends and develop strategic and tactical recommendations that support our line of business strategy, drive product decisions and/or initiatives.

· Develop strategy for our products, capabilities and product-related experiences that enable long-term profitable growth and meet the ever-changing needs of our customers and partner cross-functionally to deliver them to market.

· Develop and deliver presentations to communicate strategy, technical ideas and analytical findings to both technical and non-technical peers and stakeholders, including executive leadership.

· Independently manage projects of varying complexity.

· Motivate and provide inclusive leadership to a high-performing team by driving transparency, promote effective communication and through continuous mentorship and development support.

Ideal Experience Includes:

· Minimum of 5+ years of relevant P&L, line of business, or product management experience required; Commercial Property or Businessowner experience is a plus.

· Demonstrated track record of guiding financial/P&L outcomes — profit, loss, and growth targets — for a line of business or portfolio.

· Sound knowledge of other business operations including Underwriting, Distribution, Pricing, Claims, Legal, Compliance and Delivery.

· Minimum of 5+ years of relevant leadership/management experience, with a demonstrated ability to drive strategy, set direction and create alignment with our broader organizational vision and goals.

· Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, or another quantitative field.

· Advanced knowledge and ability to analyze competitive environment, core products, product capabilities, coverage, user experience, legal, regulatory environment, insurance operations and industry trends.

· Proven ability to effectively build relationships, collaborate, influence, and manage projects/working groups cross-functionally to achieve business objectives.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.

· Must have strong strategic problem-solving, analytical, financial, and decision-making skills.

Qualifications

  • Highly developed quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Proven ability to influence other leaders across an organization 10+ years progressively responsible work experience in an analytically driven environment
  • Previous experience in consulting or call center / customer service analytics in insurance or financial services preferred but not required
  • MBA or advanced degree in quantitative field preferred but not required
