Description

The Auto State Management team seeks to achieve our target combined ratio while growing to meet our 2030 goals. We accomplish this by engaging with the rest of the organization in setting the customer price level within the

state, launching new pricing programs and product features, root cause analysis on issues impacting profitability or growth, and partnering with our distribution organization on how to more effectively sell our products through Direct and Agency channels. Within Auto State Management, the Director of Product Analysis (DPA) is responsible for leading and developing a team of Product Analysts responsible for assisting our Director of State Operations

(DSOs) in managing the Auto product's profitable growth in their states. The DPA will also be directly responsible for managing all aspects of the Auto product's profitability and growth in one or two small markets.

Responsibilities

  • Owns profitability and growth results in assigned states, using analytical and pricing tools to identify opportunities and execute solutions.
  • Makes actionable recommendations and supports implementation of changes to address issues.
  • Shapes and implements countrywide product strategy, adapted to assigned states and informing future countrywide opportunities where possible.
  • Manages analyst staffing and workload, and clarifies roles with Distribution, Delivery, and other partners so the team stays focused on the highest-priority work.
  • Leads cross-functional teams on complex, multi-state and countrywide programs that impact Auto State Management.
  • Uses and champions data and GenAI tools — both personally and across the team — to work more efficiently and deliver better solutions.
  • Presents work to Product leaders including VPs, SVPs and Chief Product Officer.
  • Actively shapes analyst development plans, coaching them to strengthen performance in their current role and grow toward future opportunities.
  • Builds an accountable, high-performing team culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or other quantitative field. 6 years, typically 8 years or more relevant work experience, typically 8 years. Master's degree beneficial.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis software (e.g., SAS, Access).
  • Must have good planning, organization, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.
  • Experience directly managing others preferred.
  • Excellent analytic, quantitative and problem-solving skills with proven ability to make and execute data driven decisions.
  • Advanced knowledge of product offerings, business processes, product line systems, underwriting rules, pricing plans and databases.
  • Strong understanding of insurance concepts and financial metrics.
