As part of the new Global Legal & Compliance (GL&C) Strategy, Intelligence & Integration team (SII), the Strategy & Operations leader will strengthen alignment between GL&C’s internal Legal practice groups and enterprise-wide priorities, drive enterprise-level prioritization governance and enable strong expense and investment stewardship to inform key department trade-off decisions and measurable execution of GL&C’s 2030 roadmap.

The role sits within the SII department and reports to the GL&C Chief Strategy and Integration Officer, with close partnership across the GL&C Leadership Team, including the Performance & Execution Team Leader, and peer SII leadership team members (i.e., the GL&C Data Officer and the GL&C Learning and Development leader).

The Strategy and Operations leader functions as a strategic and consultative leader responsible for partnering across the Global Legal and Compliance (GL&C) organization to ensure strategic resources are allocated to the highest priorities and is responsible for developing strategic talent and driving consistency in how and when the strategy team is utilized for planning, prioritizing and leading/implementing strategic programs and priorities.

This leader will partners closely with all GL&C practice group leaders and their leadership teams. The Strategy and Operations leader will share ownership in the successful execution of GL&C 2030 strategic priorities and roadmap and all enterprise-wise critical projects at the highest level, contributing to the long-term success of the corporate function and the enterprise.

This role leads five Strategic Alignment Partner roles – three embedded at practice group and business unit leadership tables to translate GL&C priorities into practice-group context and flag execution gaps early, and two focused on GL&C-wide prioritization and strategy, The Strategy and Operations leader will also lead GL&C’s Executive Administration Team. Building on existing expense and investment stewardship responsibilities, the role carries new accountability for 2030 roadmap execution and global integration, ensuring GL&C's $60M productivity commitment is delivered rather than left to interpretation. The leader also works closely with the newly formed GL&C Performance and Execution (P&E) Team and Data Officer to establish one consistent set of metrics and benchmarking across practice groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and develops a team of high performing strategists, Strategic Alignment Partners, program managers, and the GL&C Executive Administrative (EA)Team to deliver consistent high quality strategic and execution support to enable GL&C and business unit priorities.
  • Own management of investment posture (i.e., ensure that we continue investing in the eight mix of proficient, competitive, and best-in-class capabilities need to achieve our 2030 objectives and priorities.
  • Provides overview and guidance on the department’s most critical strategic initiatives and ensures all strategy implementation is addressed with quality and efficiency, and monitoring progress. Owns enterprise-level prioritization governance — deciding which initiatives, technology, and data investments are funded, when, and against what trade-offs — and establishes one consistent set of metrics and benchmarking across practice groups in place of team-by-team reporting.
  • Work closely with GL&C’s Corporate Finance team on annual budgeting/planning for GL&C with focus on expense management and alignment of activities across GL&C practice groups that correlate with our 2030 financial productivity target.
  • Accountable for governance, delivery and execution of the GL&C 2030 roadmap and $60M productivity commitment, partnering closely with Chief Strategy & Integration Officer, GL&C leadership team, and Strategic Alignment partners.
  • Cultivates strong, positive, collaborative relationships as a trusted developer of strategic talent with leaders across the strategy team and organization.
  • Ensures the appropriate allocation of strategic talent to prioritized initiatives, reacts quickly to feedback on performance of team and needs for different levels of support.
  • Global integration: Integrating our local and outside the US (OUS) operations to optimize and scale best practices, solutions, consistent messaging, and productivity of the GL&C organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s degree and minimum of 8 to 15 years of experience.
  • Expert leadership skills with the proven ability to effectively influence and communicate at all levels of the organization and manage multiple stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate and execute strategies and programs across multiple functions to deliver improved business results.
