The Opportunity

As the MassMutual Financial Advisors (MMFA) Head of Agency Operations, you will work in an exciting and fast paced environment focused on implementing company holistic growth strategies into daily operations to meet objectives. MMFA is focused on growing and supporting MassMutual’s career advisor agency system (“the field”), responsible for retail sales of protection and wealth solutions, as well as our home office teams that enable their success.

The Team

MMFA has celebrated significant growth in the last decade and we are motivated by helping advisors and general agents achieve success. In this role you will work with our leadership team, who is responsible for guiding MMFA’s success, providing support, structure, and resources to help them achieve their goals. Our team is focused on field management, field compliance, compensation, advisor services, communications, and liaison relationships with the Advisors’ Association (AAX) and General Agents Association (GAX). Collaboration is critical as we respond to the constantly evolving needs of our career advisor agency system, our MassMutual enterprise, and the supporting departments within the channel.

The Impact:

  • Provide strategic thought partnership, sound perspective, coaching and guidance for MMFA Field Management on daily operations of our career agency system, including:

    • Collaboration with Regional Vice Presidents on understanding and addressing agency operations needs

    • Instilling best practices and uniformity throughout all MMFA region

    • Assist with agency mergers, onboarding new agencies, etc.

    • Represent MMFA in agency real estate decisions

  • Align the Home Office and the Field to drive culture, vision, and results, and oversee operations to support General Agents in managing and growing firms

  • Lead large-scale projects and initiatives, develop plans, and allocate resources to achieve results and strategies with the field, including sales growth, recruiting, net field force, business succession, strategic market development, regulatory, diversity, and leadership development

  • Understand all strategy efforts that will impact Agency Operations and execute changes needed, including identification and implementation of training needs

  • Identify and engage the right resources to address complex scenarios impacting operations within MMFA agencies

  • Responsible for strategic and operational logistics of change management, including, GA changes, appointments, conversions, and firm mergers

The Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in financial services or in a complex business environment

  • Experience leading through change

  • Ability to manage logistics and tactical changes, while also understanding the broader strategy

  • Prior experience working with field sales forces as well as the ability to build relationships with the home office

  • Great relationship and collaboration skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Organized with ability to execute high profile commitments on time

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Expertise on operational and financial aspects of agency economics

  • Ability to influence and negotiate with key stakeholders at all levels

  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business field

  • An understanding of the life insurance and/or wealth management industries

  • Management or leadership experience

  • Advanced designations (ex. CLU, ChFC, CFA, etc.)

  • Creative in approach to problem solving

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience leading strategic initiatives in a matrixed organization

  • Demonstrated decisive decision making

  • Track record of building partnerships and alliances across the enterprise

Salary Range: $144,800.00-$190,000.00 Apply
