The Opportunity

MassMutual is seeking a Firewall Engineer responsible for Level 3 and Level 4 engineering tasks, responsible for the configuration, deployment, and daily management and administration of our Palo Alto and Fortinet next generation firewall solutions. This position will be accountable for monitoring of the firewall infrastructure, environmental configuration changes, platform patches, and updates. The engineer will be partnering with MassMutual’s Cyber Security Delivery team to create secure reliable solutions to protect the company’s digital assets.

The Team

  • Successful delivery of Network Security Engineering cyber security initiatives resulting in a reduction of cyber risk across all of MassMutual
  • Responsible for maintaining a resilient and secure firewall infrastructure, utilizing Palo Alto and Fortinet hardware
  • Strong knowledge and practical use of Prisma Access & Global Protect, including infrastructure build-out, routing, policy and overall technical troubleshooting.
  • Being a leading member of any number of in-flight or future projects
  • Minimizing any unscheduled outage or downtime
  • Recognition as a trusted partner with support area stakeholders and leaders

The Impact

  • Act as a subject matter expert for system changes and project deliverables
  • Maintain firewall operations in a 24x7 environment
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for environment
  • Incorporate change management into all processes and procedures
  • Creation of technically detailed reports on firewall block lists, device status, change management, hardware/software upgrades, and other areas as needed
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem solving for any firewall related issues
  • Configure, design and troubleshoot VPN’s
  • Participate in an on-call production support rotation
  • Experience with AV/IPS/Malware configuration and troubleshooting on firewalls

The Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience with Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls
  • 8+ years of experience in security infrastructure focused roles
  • 5+ years of experience with managing enterprise firewall solutions
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to work east coast hours
  • Ability to travel once a quarter to Boston, MA; Springfield, MA & NY,NY

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task and work as part of a collaborative team
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, comfortable working autonomously and with ambiguity
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple teams and third-party vendors
  • Working experience within Financial Services (e.g. insurance, retail annuities), with a focus on technology, cyber security or information risk initiatives
  • 8 years of experience in a cyber security environment
  • 5 years of experience utilizing next generation firewalls
  • CISSP and/or PNCSE 6 or higher

Salary Range:

$131,100.00-$172,000.00
