The Opportunity

As a Business Data Analyst, you’ll have an opportunity join a transformational analytics team comprised of technical resources with a wealth of business knowledge. You will source data to help answer critical business questions such as “what happened and why?” as well as collaborate with Analytics & Insights Consultants working to perform robust statistical analyses to understand “what will happen next?”, “when will it happen?” and “who will it impact?” to help our business partners identify ways to optimize their business processes. The Team

The Business Intelligence, Reporting & Analytics team enables Operations and key business partners across MassMutual by providing actionable insight to inform both strategic initiatives and operational decisions. Through industry leading tools, we empower all levels of the organization via analytics, reporting, data management, visualization and business technology, to name a few areas. In short, we consult with leaders on business intelligence needs and represent it in ‘business speak’ with powerful visualizations to enable advisor centricity, business performance and align associate activity metrics. On any given day, this could mean sourcing and structuring internal data, integrating third party data, deriving analytical insight, creating leading/lagging indicators or guiding data literacy to engage users in data driven decisioning across their teams. We are business people first, but we understand technology, coding, modeling and bring that together so we can guide functional strategy with analytics.

The Impact

  • Providing general consultation to internal clients and delivery of ad hoc data requests

  • Working closely with analytics team members and Internal Business Partners to understand their data needs and deliver datasets support data-driven decision-making

  • Utilizing business knowledge to determine the proper source of data to fulfill requests

  • Using advanced queries to retrieve and filter data from relational databases based on defined requirements

  • Extract data from various sources and prepare it for analysis by cleaning, structuring, and formatting it appropriately

  • Maintaining clear records of data sources, assumptions, and transformation steps

  • Producing and delivering results using Business Intelligence tools and languages such as SQL, Vertica, Excel, Tableau)

  • Triaging urgent or priority requests in a manner that meets all stakeholder timelines

  • Participate as an active member of the Analytics & Insights team to achieve team and strategic organizational goals

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 1+ years' experience in a data analyst role using tools/platforms such as SQL, Tableau, Alteryx or 6 months experience in a data analyst role (inclusive of internships) + Master's Degree in a analytics, quantitative or business field

  • 1+ years developing solutions that create efficiencies or automation within an organization

  • 1+ years' experience with data aggregation, data modeling, and relational databases

The Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantitative or analytical field

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL with the ability to create complex queries

  • Exposure to Business Analytics techniques with a desire to develop skills in statistical analysis

  • Foundational knowledge of MassMutual products and data

  • Demonstrates exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and error-free deliverables

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, and collaborative environment

  • Demonstrates exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving abilities and attention to detail to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and error-free deliverables

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams

  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, and collaborative environment

Salary Range:

$69,000.00-$90,500.00
