The Opportunity

Join our team as an Enterprise Architect in an industry leading EA function that creates alignment between technology and business strategy. You will have an opportunity to guide the process of planning and designing capabilities to maximize the value of technology to enable the company to make high impact, long-term decisions supporting the Investment Management Corporate Function (Portfolio Management, Derivatives, Credit & Market Risk functions). This will be accomplished through thought leadership and architecture knowledge to high visibility business, technology, and architecture transformations architecture strategies, blueprints and roadmaps that standardize technology stacks which create speed and agility through the innovative use of standardized enterprise platforms. The EA will work with a team that embrace diversity in all of its forms.

The Team

The MassMutual Enterprise Architecture team in the Enterprise Technology and Experience organization is seeking an outstanding Enterprise Architect to join our team. Enterprise Architecture is composed of Business, Application, Technology and Security, Data and AI architecture domains. Joining this team will give the EA a unique perspective and opportunity to partner with best-in-class architects on enterprise-wide initiatives.

The Impact:

This role will work with Corporate Technology Finance & Investment Management line of business delivery teams, product managers, and enterprise stakeholders to help deliver innovative, data-driven systems aimed at transforming the insurance industry. In this role, you will work in a fast-paced, challenging, innovative, and highly collaborative environment and be expected to work with significant autonomy and influence under an internal consulting model. Some of your major responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and oversee the design of a comprehensive Investment Management architecture blueprint aligned with business and technology strategic goals and targeted outcomes.

  • Analyze and develop a robust model that effectively connects our business strategies with our business goals, ensuring alignment and coherence.

  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management, business leaders, IT architecture, and business development teams, to connect strategies and roadmaps with operational decisions.

  • Create and maintain capability models to facilitate the identification of innovative and effective solutions that address business challenges and opportunities.

  • Facilitate translation of business pain points and future state capabilities into solution needs to inform future state architectures and roadmaps.

  • Facilitate understanding of the application and technology portfolio’s support alignment with capabilities and identify opportunities for potential improvement and portfolio optimization/rationalization by staying abreast of emerging innovation in the investment space to support business needs

  • Thought leadership and active participation in conferences and research with strategic partners and academic institutions

  • Partner with business executives and senior architects to identify data and process issues, then provide solution options and recommends options

  • Provide recommendations on system options, risks, cost/benefit analysis, and impact on cross-domain systems, business strategy, goals and processes

  • Engage in SA problem solving and documentation

  • Actively publish deliverables, and utilizes multi-media to educate and engage with federated solution architecture community members.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in related field

  • 8+ years of related Strategy, Architecture or Leadership experience

  • 5 years of ​Investment Management technology experience

The Ideal Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of business architecture methodologies, frameworks, and best practices combined with an experienced view of how and when to apply them.

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing business architecture blueprints and roadmaps.

  • Ability to think about business in a way that is abstracted from how the business functions and how processes and technology are implemented.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect business strategies with operational decisions.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive change across the organization.

  • Sound understanding of business principles and concepts such as how trends and markets influence business, what differentiating factors are for the business, what and how values are created, and how strategies may be supported.

  • Experience with IM Business Platforms: Eagle, Aladdin, Clearwater, SimCorp, Calypso, Murex or similar

  • Experience in business data management platforms, design and integrations, ABOR/IBOR data layer, data modeling for IM domain, data framework adoption, mastering solution design.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing and reasoning skills

  • A team-focused mentality with proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on the ability to effectively influence others, collaborate and partner.

  • Understanding of the impact of technology use on business results

  • Strong decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate one

  • Experience in solution design and understanding of cost rationalization.

  • Strong experience in Business Architecture and Design patterns

  • Developed acumen in Domain Driven Design

  • Strong experience with Architecture integration and development.

  • Experience with Business data interchange and API-driven systems integration decoupling digital and backend systems.

  • Track record of designing architectural reference material

Salary Range:

$144,800-$190,000

At MassMutual, we focus on ensuring fair equitable pay, by providing competitive salaries, along with incentive and bonus opportunities for all employees. Your total compensation package includes either a bonus target or in a sales-focused role a Variable Incentive Compensation component.
