The Opportunity
The Communications Consultant plays a critical role in the Strategic Planning & Delivery team (SP&D) as they are responsible for defining and deploying the communication strategies that will support MassMutual’s short- and long-term goals.

The Team
The SP&D Office oversees the planning, governance, and execution of strategic projects that drive transformation and growth. It ensures strategic alignment, prioritization, and value realization across MassMutual’s portfolio, partnering closely with divisional leadership. SP&D is known for its disciplined approach to financial oversight, cross-functional collaboration, and transparent governance processes. The team includes roles such as Workstream Leads, Insight Leads, Finance Leads, and Program Managers, each accountable for driving execution, managing budgets, and enabling decision-making through data and reporting.

The Impact

As a Communication Consultant, you will prepare communications to support enterprise portfolio management as well as curate various artifacts and training materials. This role is critical to supporting the change management strategies in SP&D by reinforcing the process and directing stakeholders to the proper resources. Additionally, this role will be responsible for centralization and organization of materials leveraged by the SP&D and its stakeholders.

With this important role comes key accountabilities and responsibilities which include but are not limited to:

  • Identify various communications needs involving audience assessment, level of complexity, and related systems implications

  • Define communication strategy, audience, medium, and business impact on related products, services, people, and/or processes

  • Develop, implement, and coordinate plans, resources, and production schedules to facilitate communication objectives.

  • Support communication of organizational goals through participation strategy and process planning sessions

  • Compose, display, and convey written communications reflecting appropriate message and technical information

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 1+ years of experience involving communications, process improvement, project or change management or related experiences

Ideal Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in communication, journalism or related field

  • 3+ years of work experience of involving communication, process improvement or change management

  • Experience with various communication and marketing platforms such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Acoustic

  • Fast, accurate, creative, and versatile writing skills, including for digital media

  • Ability to analyze complex information quickly and simply for audiences including at the executive level

  • Experience developing communications at the business unit level

  • A strong collaborator who consistently demonstrates a focus on and ability to work as a team

Salary Range:

$70,900-$93,000
