The Opportunity

As a Fund Operations Specialist, you’ll play an important role in making sure our investment products are priced accurately each day. If you enjoy working with data, following clear processes, and collaborating with others, this role offers a great introduction to investment operations within financial services. In this role, you’ll work with external pricing vendors and fund companies to receive daily pricing information, review that data for accuracy, and ensure it’s shared correctly with internal systems and teams. You’ll also help compare pricing trends over time and support the team with special projects, system testing, or coverage for other team members as needed. You’ll report to the Director of Fund Operations and work closely with teammates, internal technology partners, and external vendors. Success in this role comes from being detail‑oriented, organized, comfortable juggling multiple tasks, and committed to meeting daily deadlines.

The Team

The Valuation Team is responsible for calculating the daily value of the investment options offered through our Variable Life and Variable Annuity products. In simple terms, the team ensures that investment values are accurate and ready on time so the business can operate smoothly. The team is small and collaborative, made up of three Valuation Specialists. Together, they price approximately 5,000 investment accounts each day, working with outside vendors and fund companies to gather the necessary data.

The Impact

This role plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of daily investment valuations that support MassMutual’s Variable Life and Variable Annuity products. By validating complex pricing data, resolving discrepancies, and partnering across teams and external fund companies, the Fund Operations Specialist helps protect financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational confidence across the organization. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Partner closely with IT and cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve processing or system issues that impact valuation workflows.
  • Provide valuation-related metrics and data as assigned to drive support to other Investment teams and assist in continuous improvement.
  • Conduct daily separate account related general ledger reconciliations and participate in resolving variances.
  • Support internal and external audits by responding to regulatory data requests and participating in process walk‑throughs as needed.
