The Opportunity
In this role as a Disability Claim Specialist, you will collaborate closely with subject matter experts across medical, vocational, and financial disciplines. You will proactively identify, request, and analyze information essential to the claim evaluation process, including medical records, financial documentation, and occupational information. You will develop and execute investigative action plans and make or recommend liability determinations in compliance with policy provisions and internal standards.

The Impact
As a Disability Claim Specialist your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Adjudicating Disability Income, Life Waiver of Premium, and Long Term Care claims of low to moderate complexity in accordance with policy provisions
- Applying critical thinking skills to proactively identify and address outstanding claim requirements
- Making or recommending initial and ongoing liability determinations and authorize benefit payments as appropriate
- Delivering exceptional customer service through clear, professional, and empathetic written and verbal communication
- Responding proactively and timely to claimants, advisors, and internal stakeholders
- Demonstrating the ability and initiative to manage claims independently, seeking guidance for highly complex situations as needed
The Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or 2+ years of experience handling Individual Disability Income, Group Long-Term Disability, or Long-Term Care claims
- 1+ year of customer service experience
The Ideal Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of experience with Individual Disability Income, Group Long-Term Disability, or Long-Term Care claims
- Prior investigative or analytical experience
- Demonstrated success managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service through oral and written communication in accordance with internal and regulatory standards
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and effective time management
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently

Salary Range:
$58,400-$73,600At MassMutual, we focus on ensuring fair equitable pay, by providing competitive salaries, along with incentive and bonus opportunities for all employees. Your total compensation package includes either a bonus target or in a sales-focused role a Variable Incentive Compensation component.
