The Opportunity

The Head of MR&A Innovation, Planning & Execution plays a critical leadership role within the Management Reporting & Analytics team. This role will partner with colleagues on the FP&A organization’s reporting & analytics strategic planning and execution journey. This role ensures a cohesive reporting & analytics strategy across business segments and functions, enabling data-driven decision-making aligned with the company’s financial goals and strategic priorities. In addition, This role will facilitate ad-hoc analysis, models and reporting for finance business partners and will manage the intake channel for MR&A. This role will own the goal to stand-up the process & intake for ad-hoc model/analysis and design the interactions/deliverables back to strategic finance business partners and other external to MR&A customers. In acting as the initial intake for the MR&A team this role will have the ability to work on new internal/external data with partners such as Investment and Insurance Finance. Data literacy and initial solutioning will be important skillsets for this role as the initial funnel for new requests and analysis. The position will also act as a key stakeholder and leader on the FP&A AI initiative (AIM) compiling and testing use cases for implementation across FP&A. This role will be looked to for innovation using AI and other tools to enhance our reporting and analytics as we transform FP&A. Contributing to the overall goals of the FP&A Leadership team will be a critical measure of success for this position.

The Team

The Management Reporting & Analytics team is made up of collaborative and innovative finance and BI development professionals. The team mission is to deliver data-driven financial and business insights that enable strategic decision-making and enhance financial performance. To fulfill this mission, we are heavily focused on automating financial reporting and creating one-source of truth through BI tool capabilities and advanced data workflows. The Impact

Reporting & Analytics Strategy

  • Develop and execute on the FP&A short-term and long-term analytics & reporting journey in partnership with the Analytics and BI Development team leaders. This will be a team effort with this role, owning the majority of the long-term strategy and milestone monitoring.

  • Collaborate with finance business leaders and the FP&A consolidation team to define, design and execute on the short-term and long-term analytics & reporting journeys.

  • Provide thought leadership on turning financial results into business insights and strategic implications for senior leadership, working in close collaboration with the FP&A leadership team

  • Help design and facilitate processes along the reporting & analytics journeys from SFBP to ELT enhancing strategic decision making and better arming senior leaders with actionable insights to support execution of strategy.

  • Work with partners from Investment and Insurance Finance to understand data and relevant analytics. Document sources and work with analytics/Bi development team of reporting and analytic solutions.

  • Play a key role in documentation and mining of new internal/external data for use in reporting/analytics journeys.

AI Leadership

  • Lead the FP&A AI team (AIM), consisting of volunteers from the MR&A team.

  • Gather, assess and test use cases provided internally by the MR&A team as well as from broader FP&A through the AIM SharePoint and survey.

  • Develop internal solutions and operate with data science for use cases requiring development.

  • Lead a monthly AIM forum across FP&A fostering an environment of knowledge sharing and AI ideation.

  • Leverage AI to increase efficiency, accuracy and business value within reporting & analytics and broader FP&A.

  • Partner with Finance Transformation to assist with AI efforts and data strategy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Develop and implement the process for monthly/quarterly KPI analysis including initial attribution review (performed by SFBPs) and executive summarization of the story.

  • Develop a streamlined intake solution for ad-hoc analytics and model requests

  • Partner with the Insurance and Investment FP&A teams to deepen understanding of available data and key performance indicators.

  • Primary FP&A liaison with the data science team on tools/methodologies to enhance analytic journey.

  • Primary MR&A partner with the finance transformation team.

Governance & Controls

  • Ensure robust documentation, version control, and review protocols for all analytic models/deliverables.

  • Maintain a strong internal control environment and partner with accounting and internal audit teams to ensure compliance and integrity.

  • Implement analytics for FP&A to enhance review of actuals/forecast/plan and alert finance business partners/senior leaders to trend deviations grounded in data and statistical methods.

  • Develop processes to review analytics and establish thresholds for commentary needs in partnership with the communications team. Ensure completeness of commentary through initial review of attribution (performed by SFBPs) and ensure 100% of variances exceeding thresholds have proper commentary provided. Highlight areas of opportunities/risks to senior leaders based on data.

Standardization & Transformation

  • Drive standardization of analysis templates, KPI definitions, materiality thresholds and data sources to enhance efficiency and comparability across business units.

  • Develop and execute on the analytics roadmap progressing through the maturity of analytics from descriptive to prescriptive.

  • Act as a citizen data science team keeping up with new tools and methodologies to better increase the efficacy of our decision-making process.

  • Lead the AI strategy for reporting and analytics, while sharing lessons learned with finance business partners to better processes across FP&A.

  • Lead FP&A transformation efforts (e.g., self-service analytics adoption)

  • Serve as FP&A liaison to the Transformation Office, supporting data/ reporting standardization (incl. metrics, timing, data sources) needs

Leadership & Team Development

  • Manage, coach, and develop a high-performing analyst

  • Assist in developing and maintaining continuing education learning path for analytic methods and tools for MR&A team

  • Facilitate trainings on new tools and enhancements to processes with broader FP&A

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

FP&A Leadership:

  • Participate in enterprise-wide leadership teams, influencing functional strategy, and developing joint solutions

  • Share strategy, roadmap and progress on analytics & reporting journey with FP&A SLT & CFO SLT

  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset and champion innovation

  • Create an environment that fosters high levels of employee engagement

  • Ensure team is proactive and highly responsive to stakeholder needs, anticipating upcoming deliverables and taking accountability for proper execution

  • Drive talent stewardship, specifically the ability to attract, lead, develop and retain talent

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Finance/Accounting or related discipline

  • 10+ years of work experience with a track record of increasing responsibility

  • 5+ years financial analytics experience and basic financial modeling capabilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey complex

  • Executive presence; proven experience coordinating and participating in management meetings

  • Advanced knowledge of financial presentation and data tools at a minimum power excel user

  • Strong analytical skills - ability to analyze financial data sets and understand business impact

  • Ability to tell the story of the data

  • Organized and detail-oriented; multi-task various responsibilities

  • Proactive and self-motivated; anticipate upcoming client projects and deliverables

  • Ability to think critically and demonstrate good judgment. Demonstrate experience with creative problem-solving

  • Individual who understands how to connect strategy execution, strategy creation and financial outcomes

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Experience with Agile practices and methodologies working with tools like Jira

  • Advanced analytic knowledge and model building experience (regression, time series, classification, probabilistic etc.)

  • Experience with advanced BI and analytic tools (Python, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx etc.)

  • Data science experience or background

  • Practice in creating collaborative financial models/wireframes in Excel or other basic data tool

  • AI for finance knowledge or experience implementing

Salary Range:

$159,800-$209,700
