Managing Director – Alpha Data Services Practice Manager

What we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced Business Analysis Practice Area Manager to lead our Alpha Data Services (ADS) business analyst team. The ideal candidate will have a proven history of effectively managing teams, driving execution and developing a high functioning collaborative practice area.

Why is this role important

The business analyst team plays a critical role in onboarding Alpha Data clients. At its core are experienced analysts that understand the workflows, processes and data. The ADS Business Analysis Practice Area Manager will help establish a mature, knowledgeable, high-functioning team of business analysts that will improve onboarding time, ensure consistency, and improve overall quality of implementations.

What your responsible for

Lead and develop a team of business analysts that are responsible for onboarding clients Establish internal partnerships and work effectively across the organization to drive execution, clarity of communication, manage expectations, align Product and Practice Area road maps, and insure high-quality client delivery Develop team knowledge and grasp of various Alpha Data Service offerings and related technologies Oversee day-to-day operations of the business analyst team including assignment to client deals and allocation of work assignments Develop robust performance management plans to help mature expertise of team and layout individually tailored personal development plans Provide guidance and support to business analysts conducting research, analyzing data, and generating information to support decision-making. Ensure standard business analysis methodologies and best practices are applied consistently across client implementations with high quality Communicate effectively with stakeholders at State Street and externally to ensure alignment of priorities, expectations, and deliverables. Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators to track effectiveness and execution efficiency of the business analyst team. Stay up to date on new Alpha Service offerings, industry trends, and modern technologies. Build a standard set of business analyst best practices that align to our Alpha Data Services implementation framework Create a process to periodically assess efficiency of processes, quality of artifacts, and drive continuous improvement. Ensure the Business Analyst team work effectively and collaboratively across Alpha Data Services practice areas and with our partner ecosystem to ensure successful delivery for clients Contribute towards strategic resourcing decisions including vendor analysis, selection, and onboarding. Function as an Alpha Data Services Implementation Lead on multiple client initiatives Evaluate scope of services artifacts from sales and translate to an implementation approach and plan Work with senior technical and product architects on technical solution while keeping in mind client scope, delivery timelines, quality, and supportability Effectively collaborate and influence cross functional Alpha teams in solution design and implementation approach Ensure client requirements and solution are translated to operating documents for a smooth Business As Usual experience

Education and Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field of study
  • Masters Degree, MBA or relevant industry certifications preferred
  • 15 + years of experience working in financial services industry in various technology and business roles including but not limited to Product Management, Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, Quality Assurance Analyst, Operations Analyst, Implementation Lead and Data Analyst
  • 10+ years of proven experience as a business/systems/data analyst with a minimum of 7 years functioning in a leadership role
  • Strong management background with the ability to work tactically and strategically
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills to engage with audiences at all levels of an organization
  • Experience working with senior staff members including technology leads and C-Level executives
  • Track record of leadership experience with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals and deliver results
  • Demonstrate an understanding of common subject matters used in the Asset Management Industry
  • Hands on experience working with data onboarding initiatives from multiple sources including internal platforms, external partners, clients, and third party market data providers
  • Understanding of implementation lifecycle and methodologies
  • Understanding of data warehousing technologies, data models, and ability to translate for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of data mastering concepts, data lineage, and data quality techniques
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex topics and data into actionable steps.
  • Experience with leading and developing high performance teams in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage talent including coaching plans, building competencies, development plans, and performance management.
  • Experience with scoping professional services opportunities including defining scope, estimating team composition/size, and pricing deals.
  • Developed pricing proposals for new business and adds to existing clients
  • Knowledge and proficiency using SQL to analyze, extract, and make sense of data
  • Proficiency in business analysis tools, methodologies, stakeholder analysis, requirements gathering, process flows, and data flows.
  • Firsthand experience with project management tools and methodologies.

Salary Range:

$170,000 - $267,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
