Who we are looking for

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to act as the Corporate Audit Regulatory and Risk Insights Managing Director. In this role, you will provide oversight and coordination of key processes that support Corporate Audit’s engagement in regulatory matters (e.g., regulatory validations, exam insights) and in the development and delivery of thought leadership on risk topics. Specifically, you will lead Corporate Audit’s efforts to harmonize approaches to engaging on global regulatory exams and in the processes to validate the successful closure of regulatory issues. Further, you will develop ongoing risk insights and provide thought leadership on risk topics (e.g., emerging risks, risk trends, material risks). Additionally, you will provide support of other central processes such as investigations, retrospective reviews, new business reviews and development of centralized reporting. This role reports into the Deputy General Auditor and centrally supports our global audit teams and you will work closely with your peers across multiple jurisdictions.

Additionally, you will be a key member of the Corporate Audit leadership team where you will develop and maintain strong partnerships across the lines of defense and within the Division. You will drive change within the Division by helping define strategic initiatives that positively impact underlying processes, improve performance, raise the bar on risk excellence for the firm and develop future leaders for both the Division and the Company. This role will be out of Boston, Massachusetts.

Due to the role requirements this job needs to be performed primarily in the office with some flex work opportunities available.

What you will be responsible for

As the Corporate Audit Regulatory and Risk Insights, Managing Director you will:

  • Oversee and coordinate the approach for engagement on global regulatory exams (e.g., track regulatory exam status, determine Corporate Audit participation, coordinate responses to examiner requests).
  • Maintain and oversee processes around Corporate Audit’s validation of regulatory findings issued across the company. Areas of responsibility include: tracking open findings, confirming validation approach, ensuring proper resources are assigned, building periodic reporting, overseeing internal tollgate processes and reviewing validation materials.
  • Aggregate and assess audit outcomes and continuous monitoring results to identify key risk insights to be shared with management through various means (e.g., legal entity boards, business committees, periodic opinions).
  • Drive the delivery of Corporate Audit’s Risk Insights program whereby thought leadership on topics of emerging risk and / or key issues facing the business are reported on to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within the Division and across the lines of defense.
  • Act as part of the Corporate Audit leadership team and help drive adoption of, and at times lead, Corporate Audit strategic initiatives intended to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership to Corporate Audit personnel involved in the regulatory and risk insight processes.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in Public Accounting, Internal Auditing, or Risk / Compliance experience with increasing responsibilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferable in finance, accounting or related field.
  • Advanced degree or certification (CFA, FRM, CPA, CIA) preferred.

Additional requirements

While majority of the time you will work from your primary location, some domestic and international travel may be required to a variety of locations where State Street operates.

Salary Range:

$170,000 - $267,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
