Who we are looking for
As a AWS Compute Services Engineering lead within the AWS Platform Engineering team, you will be responsible to drive build out of a secure and compliant AWS compute services (EC2, EKS, ECS, Serverless, etc) based on the principles of hyper automation, self-service, immutability, developer autonomy etc. You will work closely with Architects, project managers and engineers designing, implementing, testing, and deploying end to end technology solutions that support AWS compute platform.
What you will be responsible for
As an AWS Compute Services Engineering lead, you will
- Enable AWS Compute Services such as Virtual Machines, EKS, ECS, AWS Serverless (lambda,Step Functions etc) for greenfield and brownfield enterprise workloads.
- Drive a team of engineers to establish an enterprise grade Compute Services in AWS by driving solutions and standards using Infrastructure as Code templates.
- Collaborate with peer teams to integrate AWS services to other shared services in the area of infrastructure, devsecops, common shared services, telemetry, security, networking and compliance to provide an end-to-end compute solution in cloud.
- Review and manage technical requirements and business functional requirements to establish new cloud infrastructure constructs based on best-in-class design and drive service enablement based on use case needs
- Demonstrate a balanced and pragmatic approach to addressing complex infrastructure concepts and gain consensus of peers through use of blueprints and trade-off analyses
- Be responsible for designing and building distributed, fault tolerant solutions that enable the business to securely run sensitive workloads within the cloud environment.
- Work with the team to design large scale enterprise integration patterns between cloud environments and our on-premises services
- Will help in evaluating, re-architecting and migrate existing on-prem solutions to AWS
- Evaluate emerging technologies, services and tools and develop technical domain roadmaps pertinent to public cloud capabilities
- Support short-term and long-term public cloud service enablement planning

- Deep understanding of AWS Compute Services such as Virtual Machines, EKS, ECS, AWS Serverless and its supporting services as core competency.
- Experience in handling Operating System lifecycle: Base images, Image Hardening, OS Security, Disk Management, Backups, etc.
- Have good technical understanding of how container-based enterprise grade workloads can be rolled out with EKS/ECS with governance and standards.
- Experience handling Enterprise level infrastructure lifecycle including planning, monitoring, alerting, upgrades and patch management by automating end to end process.
- Experience in handling large scale infrastructure automation and upgrades to keep them up to date, preferably using Terraform.
- Good understanding of industry standard information security policies and how those can be implemented in the infrastructure environment.
- Expertise in a wide range of infrastructure related domains with a track record of large production grade service deployment and IT operations preferably in financial services or a highly regulated industry
- Leadership skills be able to inspire, persuade and influence courageously and persuade
- Excellent technical architecture skills, enabling the creation of future-proof, complex global solutions
- Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills that are required to operate and navigate a complex organization as a leading member of global, distributed teams that deliver quality services and solutions.
- Ability to rapidly gain knowledge of the organizational structure of the firm to facilitate work with groups outside of the immediate team.
Education & Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline.
- 10 years overall IT industry experience in building multi-tier system and service design and development for large enterprises
- Developing technical solutions for based on industry standards using AWS IaaS, PaaS and SaaS capabilities.
- Experience in CICD, SDLC tools/Processes.
- Well versed with AWS foundational constructs around Compute, Networking, Security and Storage
- Experience with AWS PaaS services
- Strong understanding of multi-region cloud environments and global connectivity requirements
- Knowledge of cloud security controls including tenant isolation, encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, vulnerability assessments, application firewalls, SIEM, etc.
- Extensive, real-world experience designing technology components for enterprise solutions and defining solution architectures and reference architectures with a focus on cloud technologies
- Experience in designing and implementing secure containerized applications is preferable.
- Experience in designing, coding and deploying Terraform
- Financial services or regulated industry experience a huge plus
Salary Range:
$130,000 - $205,000 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
