State Street
Role Description:
We are seeking a strategic and technically proficient leader to serve as the Head of Treasury and GA Model Validation. The successful candidate will bring deep quantitative expertise, regulatory awareness, and a strong leadership presence to ensure robust model governance and risk management.
Why this role is important to us
Model Risk Management (MRM) is a critical function within our broader Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, ensuring that models used to drive financial decisions, manage risk, and support strategic objectives are sound, reliable, and well-governed. The Head of Treasury and GA Model Validation plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity of models that influence core areas such as liquidity, capital planning, and investment management. By providing independent, rigorous validation of these models, this role helps protect the firm from model-driven risk, supports regulatory compliance, and enhances decision-making across Treasury and Advisory functions. This position is essential to maintaining trust in our modeling infrastructure and upholding the firm’s risk culture.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the validation of Treasury models, including those used for asset-liability management (ALM), liquidity management and stress testing, interest rate risk, and capital adequacy.
Oversee the validation of GA models, including asset allocation, portfolio construction, and investment management.
Ensure all validations meet internal governance standards and regulatory expectations (e.g., SR 11-7, OCC 2011-12).
Develop and maintain rigorous validation methodologies, including performance testing, benchmarking, and sensitivity analysis.
Collaborate with model developers, business units, and risk partners to ensure transparency and effective challenge.
Communicate validation results and model risk issues to senior management, model governance committees, and regulators.
Build and lead a high-performing team of quantitative professionals with expertise in both Treasury and investment modeling.
Provide consultation for the creation of metrics and setting of thresholds
Work collaboratively with Corporate functions and Business aligned risk teams to evaluate the operational impact and readiness to successfully scale and implement an enterprise-wide program and framework
