Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a high-impact strategy leader to join State Street’s Corporate Strategy team as a Managing Director. Reporting directly to the SVP, Head of Corporate Strategy, this role serves as a strategic thought partner and delegate. The Managing Director will lead key components of the strategic planning process, support enterprise-wide strategy development, and advise senior leaders on strategic decisions.

This role offers significant exposure to State Street’s Executive Committee and senior leadership and is a strong platform for future advancement. The Corporate Strategy team has a proven track record of developing talent into leadership roles across the firm.

The Corporate Strategy team plays a central role in shaping State Street’s future and ensuring its overall success. Across the globe, institutional investors rely on State Street to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability. To make that happen, the Corporate Strategy team is at the center of setting the firm-wide strategic direction and evaluating some of the organization’s most critical strategic questions. As a Managing Director, you will help define the firm’s strategic direction and support decision-making at the highest levels. You will also help cultivate the next generation of strategic talent within the organization.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Drive select strategic initiatives, helping to frame complex issues, provide data-driven insights to improve decision-making, and drive to actionable outcomes
  • Lead key components of the firm-wide strategic planning process in partnership with the SVP, integrating business unit and functional strategies into a cohesive enterprise strategy
  • Facilitate an ongoing strategic dialogue to shape recommendations on where and how State Street should compete and win
  • Evaluate progress against the firm’s multi-year strategic plan and identify areas for focused analysis and investment

Executive Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop strong relationships with senior management, acting as a trusted advisor beyond the scope of immediate projects
  • Represent the SVP in senior forums, as needed

Team Coaching & Culture

  • Mentor and develop junior team members to drive individual and team performance
  • Support career planning and advancement of team members, aligning staffing with individual development goals
  • Cultivate a collaborative, high-performance team culture and a pipeline for future firm leadership

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in strategy consulting or corporate strategy
  • Financial services experience strongly preferred (asset management, servicing, capital markets, data & analytics)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop talent
  • Experience shaping and executing enterprise-level strategy

Salary Range:

$170,000 - $267,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
