Business Unit Chief Financial Officer for Investment Services

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer for State Street and the President for Investment Services (IS) we are seeking an experienced Business Unit CFO for our largest business, representing $9B in total revenue. As the Business Unit CFO for IS, our largest and strategically critical business within the bank, you will act as a trusted partner to the President of IS and their senior leadership team. You will provide strategic financial leadership, drive disciplined financial management, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting, planning, and analysis. This role demands an executive capable of navigating the complexities of a Global Systemically Important Bank (G-SIB), managing global regulatory requirements, and delivering commercial insights that drive revenue growth, optimize capital, liquidity, and risk-adjusted returns.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as the lead financial strategist for the business line, driving commercial decision-making aligned with global financial goals.
  • Partner with the President of IS to shape business strategy through financial insight, performance analytics, and scenario modeling.
  • Lead all financial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes for the business unit.
  • Partner with the CFO and executive leadership to deliver strategic insights through financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting under applicable GAAP/IFRS and regulatory frameworks.
  • Oversee global management reporting, profitability analysis, and internal KPI dashboards across regions, products, and clients.
  • Maintain strong governance over financial controls and internal processes in coordination with the central finance function.
  • Drive capital efficiency and optimal balance sheet usage for the business line.
  • Act as the primary finance lead for M&A transactions within the business unit.
  • Conduct financial due diligence, valuation modeling, synergy analysis, and post-merger integration planning.
  • Support the development of business cases and board presentations related to strategic acquisitions, divestitures, or partnerships.
  • Provide support to the CFO and Investor Relations team by preparing investor materials, financial disclosures, and strategic messaging related to the Investment Services
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team supporting the business across geographies.
  • Champion finance transformation initiatives, including automation, data analytics, and reporting standardization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish and nurture a culture of ‘Risk Excellence’ within the team, encouraging an environment of openness that welcomes effective challenge and supports open discussion.

Experience Required:

  • The successful candidate will be an experienced financial professional with the following skills and experiences:
  • Experience in leading finance transformation or major cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience in financial services and banking capital markets preferred
  • Prior exposure to business partnering in a front-office intensive environment.
  • Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, or Business; MBA or CPA/CFA preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills necessary to coordinate cross-geographic/function team and associated control functions (ERM, Compliance, Legal) and business partners.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact effectively at senior executive and board levels.
  • Proven track record of leading complex financial operations across multiple geographies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)

Salary Range:

$225,000 - $337,500 Annual
