Who we are looking for

A high-profile role within the firm this Pre-Approval Controlled Function (PCF14) position for State Street Custodial Services (Ireland) Limited requires a high-calibre professional who will provide an independent assessment of the regulated entity’s risks and proactively communicate and engage at senior levels within the business to assist with identifying, analysing, mitigating, managing and monitoring the risks that arise. The individual should have a strong background in risk management, notably the implementation and embedding of risk frameworks and related tools. The individual will serve as a subject matter expert, providing ongoing direction and consultative advice to the business unit with respect to risk management policies, guidelines, and best practices

What you will be responsible for

As Manager you will

  • Demonstrate ethical leadership and promote the highest standards of integrity, probity and corporate governance. Drive the effective communication, implementation and compliance with accepted industry practice, company policies, statute and regulatory requirements.
  • Play a leading role in defining and embedding a sustainable culture of risk awareness, which is consistent with the company’s core values.
  • Assist the Business Unit in identifying, analysing, managing and preventing risks inherent in its new and existing business / products / operating models and developing or enhancing existing controls to mitigate these risks.
  • Oversee the risk management infrastructure and practices consistent with regulatory expectations for a depositary and industry sound practices.
  • Implement the Corporate Risk Framework and related programmes within the firm. Ensure that these are in line with corporate methodology and local regulatory requirements.
  • Assist business unit in implementing effective risk management best practices by developing and establishing continuous risk identification, measurement, management, control and reporting.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing ongoing direction and consultative advice to the business unit with respect to risk management policies, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Consider specific industry, market and regulatory matters relevant to the firm and monitor and assess the impact of changes in the regulatory risk profile from a risk perspective.
  • Report regularly to corporate and regional committees and legal entity Boards, with appropriate, timely and relevant information so that the committees and Boards can discharge their responsibilities effectively.
  • Develop effective working relationships and communications with staff and ensure that staff are motivated, developed and supported.
  • Develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and foster a culture of risk awareness through all interactions
  • Develop and review of Risk Management related policies and procedures to ensure they are sufficient to meet regulatory requirements and be proactive in identifying areas for control improvement.
  • Monitor and report on adherence and consistency of strategic initiatives within board approved risk appetite framework, tolerances and profile.
  • Provide independent oversight and challenge of effectiveness of processes for risk identification, assessment, mitigation, management and reporting. Provide subject matter expertise and challenge to business response, management and mitigation of material risk exposures.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • University Degree in a relevant field such as accounting, finance or banking or equivalent professional qualification
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in banking operation (or financial services industry or similar)
  • Depositary Experience Required
  • Previous experience of holding PCF 14 an advantage
  • Experience operating in a highly regulated environment.
  • Have in depth knowledge and experience of best practice risk management methodologies and emerging practice in financial services.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships within the business units and across the corporation while maintaining a level of challenge
