Investment Services is the front end of State Street and is responsible for the firm’s global securities services business. Working directly for the Chief of Staff to the President of Investment Services, the Senior Manager, Business Insights & Performance plays a critical leadership role in shaping and driving the division’s business management, performance analytics, and executive reporting framework.
This role leads a team responsible for delivering high‑quality business intelligence, performance metrics, and management reporting across the global Investment Services organization. It ensures that data‑driven insights, performance analysis, and KPIs effectively support strategic decision‑making at the highest levels of the company.
What You Will Be Responsible For
As Senior Manager, Business Insights & Performance, you will lead a broad portfolio of strategic, analytical, and operational activities central to the management and performance of the global IS business. This includes ownership of business management processes, leadership of business intelligence capabilities, and oversight of performance reporting across all Investment Services business units.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership & Business Management
- Own and lead the Investment Services business management cycle, overseeing all periodic business reviews and coordinating inputs across global business units.
- Partner with IS senior leadership to define divisional and BU-level goals, OKRs, and performance targets, including the development of leading/lagging indicators, KPIs, and KRIs.
- Provide strategic guidance and thought leadership to ensure performance insights are actionable, aligned to priorities, and support forward‑looking decision-making.
Business Insights, Reporting & Analytics
- Oversee and direct the work of global business intelligence and market intelligence teams (including offshore teams), ensuring analytical outputs are robust, contextualized, and business‑relevant.
- Manage the full lifecycle of KPI/OKR tracking, including the configuration and enhancement of performance management tools in collaboration with technology partners.
- Lead the design and delivery of executive‑level management reporting for divisional leadership, periodic business reviews, governance forums, and strategic planning activities.
- Anticipate reporting needs, identify enhancements, and drive continuous improvement of insights, dashboards, and analytics to strengthen decision support.
Dashboarding, Data Governance & Process Optimization
- Lead the development, evolution, and maintenance of the Investment Services Performance Dashboard, ensuring alignment with BU leadership, corporate functions, and golden-source data standards.
- Identify, recommend, and implement opportunities to streamline and automate reporting processes, adopting new tools, applications, and analytics capabilities to increase scalability and effectiveness.
- Ensure strong data governance, quality, and control standards in all reporting and analytics activities.
Client Portfolio Strategy Support
- Support the strategy development for North America client portfolios (especially for Insurance and Asset Owner), including the formulation of multi‑year strategic priorities, growth opportunities, retention strategies, and client‑level performance targets.
- Build and operationalize a structured strategy framework for NA portfolios, ensuring alignment with divisional objectives, market trends, and client profitability goals.
- Provide executive‑level insights on portfolio strategy execution, emerging risks, and commercial opportunities through periodic business reviews and leadership forums.
Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Build and manage strong relationships with BU executive managers, Corporate Finance, Strategy, Technology, and other internal partners to ensure alignment on performance frameworks and reporting standards.
- Act as a trusted advisor and Subject Matter Expert on business performance management, OKRs, analytics, and management reporting across the broader State Street organization.
- Represent the Business Insights & Performance function in cross‑divisional initiatives and strategic programs.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analytics professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective resource allocation, capability development, and succession planning to support evolving business needs.
Required Education & Qualifications
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
- Green Belt Six Sigma certification or higher.
- 15+ years of experience in the financial industry, with at least 5 years in complex global organizations.
- Strong understanding of the Asset Management, Asset Owner, Insurance, and Asset Servicing industries.
- Demonstrated multi‑year experience in Market Intelligence, Strategy, Client Analytics, and Management Information Systems.
- Proven ability to summarize complex subjects into clear, concise executive messaging.
- Advanced proficiency with SQL, Python, Tableau, Power BI, and other analytics tools.
- Highly proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
- Proven experience with Salesforce; Workboard experience a plus.
- Highly collaborative leadership style, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and adapt to diverse management styles.
- Excellent organizational skills, able to manage and prioritize multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
- Sound judgment and decision‑making abilities regarding matters of material significance.
- Motivated team leader with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset
Salary Range:
$110,000 - $188,750 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
