Who we are looking for

The Technical Product Manager – Platform role is a hands-on business-to-technology focused role and is an integral part of the Charles River software platform. The candidate will have excellent communication skills, have a hands-on approach, work side-by-side with Platform Product Management team and can collaborate with both business and technical leadership. Working with the engineering team in the agile role of product owner, the Technical Product Manager will create and manage the product roadmap and bring new features and capabilities to market. Additionally, the Technical Product Manager will develop internal and external relationships that will help drive detailed requirements, prioritization decisions and successful adoption of platform capabilities. The Technical Product Manager will focus on operational efficiency, automation, CI/CD pipeline, and generally non-functional requirements that need to be met in order for our operations teams to operate the software environments at the expected service levels for our clients. The position is located in Burlington, Massachusetts, USA.

The team you will be joining is part of the Charles River Investment Management Systems (CRIMS), a market leader in providing a comprehensive end-to-end investment management platform covering front, middle and back office. The Charles River IMS platform offers portfolio management, compliance, order and execution management, post-trade processing, data provisioning and management, performance measurement, as well as other key capabilities important to the investment lifecycle. The Platform team plays a crucial role in enabling development teams to build using consistent technologies and underlying infrastructure, support and operations teams to operate the application environments at the expected service levels and the transition to cloud native approaches. This role, being part of the Platform Product Management team, is crucial to our mission.

What you will be responsible for

  • Thoroughly understand operational requirements (deployment, promotions, availability, performance, software maintenance, support procedures) and synthesize them into standardized processes/tools
  • Manage requirements from internal & external parties (clients, partners, vendors, etc.), scope and validate solutions, prioritize based on company objectives, and produce functional specifications
  • Manage the product roadmap and work with corresponding product teams to prioritize delivery
  • Work with product management colleagues to ensure delivery of solutions
  • Ability to develop and manage cross functional processes and project timelines as it relates to the product
  • Manage cross-functionally, with engineering groups, QA, support teams, and Cloud operations for a smooth deployment and customer adoption
  • Summarize and present to wider internal & external audience for reviews and decision making on key product concerns
  • Review stakeholders’ work, such as QA, documentation, on an ongoing basis
  • Manage delivery, document, and train relevant parties on your product and components

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent, and/or other work experience in a technical setting
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Strong hands‑on technical aptitude, with the ability to work directly with engineering teams as a product owner to shape requirements, validate solutions, and drive delivery.
  • Exceptional communication and cross‑functional leadership, collaborating with engineering, QA, support, cloud operations, clients, partners, and vendors
  • Experience building and managing cloud native technologies or building products based on cloud native technologies
  • Strong contributor with high motivation, with the ability to take initiative, set priorities and perform tasks with minimal guidance
  • Experience in Financial Services particularly investment management workflows, is preferred

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with automation, DevOps, CI/CD, and IaC tools (Terraform, Jenkins, Git, Ansible).
  • Fluency with REST/OpenAPI, events/streams (e.g., Kafka), data contracts, and backward‑compatible change management across internal and client‑facing integrations
  • SQL for ad‑hoc validation and debugging data flows; ability to define telemetry, KPIs, and instrumentation required for operational excellence and business reporting.
  • Experience instrumenting services and building actionable dashboards/alerts (e.g., Dynatrace DQL, logs/metrics/traces) to enable proactive detection and incident triage.
  • RBAC, audit trails, SDLC controls, secrets management (Vault/KMS), and collaboration with risk/compliance on change, access, and data‑handling standards.

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $140,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
