Technical Team Lead, VP. (IMS Upgrades)
State Street
.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Team Lead to manage the Americas based team responsible for delivering client upgrades within our SaaS investment management platform. The team forms part of a larger global team that supports platform upgrades and modernization initiatives for clients. This role combines technical leadership, delivery oversight, and governance responsibility. The successful candidate will lead a team of technical engineers and system Analysts responsible for executing upgrades, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with internal operational and risk management standards. Given the critical nature of investment management systems, upgrades require thorough testing, detailed documentation, and careful management of risk. The Team Lead will provide technical oversight and guidance to the upgrade engineers and system analysts, support troubleshooting of complex issues where necessary, and ensure delivery timelines and project budgets are maintained. The role also acts as an important governance checkpoint within the SaaS upgrade process, ensuring appropriate change management and risk remediation practices are followed.
Responsibilities

- Provide technical oversight and guidance during upgrade projects, supporting the team in diagnosing complex application and database issues where required.
- Ensure upgrades are delivered in line with the approved deployment methodology, including environment creation, configuration migration, and system validation prior to cutover.
- Oversee testing activities to ensure client workflows are validated end-to-end, with appropriate evidence captured to support governance and audit requirements.
- Work closely with Professional Services, engineering teams, and other internal stakeholders to coordinate upgrade activities and resolve issues during project delivery.
- Act as a key governance control point within the SaaS upgrade process, ensuring change management, risk remediation, and operational procedures are followed in accordance with internal policies.
- Manage team workloads and delivery timelines to ensure project milestones are achieved and upgrades are delivered within agreed budgets.
- Engage with client representatives and third-party vendors where required to support successful upgrade delivery.
- Collaborate with other team leads and platform teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical and operational documentation, including upgrade procedures, troubleshooting guidance, and process improvements.
Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in the IT industry, with demonstrated experience leading technical teams in complex delivery environments.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including SQL scripting and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Proven experience working with highly customized enterprise applications and complex system environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across application, database, and configuration layers.
- Experience working within SaaS or cloud based delivery models, ideally supporting platform upgrades or migrations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams delivering work to strict project timelines and budget constraints.
- Experience working with external clients, internal delivery teams, and third-party vendors.
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
