About the Role
The Legal Operations Analyst is a data-driven problem solver and technical specialist supporting the Legal Department’s matter management and eBilling processes. You’ll be the primary administrator for ONIT, the Legal Department’s eBilling tool, drive automation and reporting, and partner with attorneys, vendors, Finance, and AP to deliver efficiency and actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Matter Management & eBilling (ONIT)
- Administer and optimize the ONIT eBilling platform: resolve vendor onboarding issues, rate card conflicts, invoice submission errors, and implement billing rules
- Monitor invoice lifecycle in ONIT, inclusive payment oversight and payment status updates
- Maintain and support matter data hygiene (budget issues, workflow phase issues, timekeeper rates) and enforce Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs) within ONIT
- Developer & Automation Skills
- Design, configure, and maintain ONIT eBilling workflows, billing rules, and integrations with Finance/AP systems
- Develop custom scripts, automations, and API integrations to streamline invoice lifecycle (submission, review, approval, payment) and reporting
- Troubleshoot and resolve ONIT platform issues (vendor onboarding, rate card conflicts, invoice errors, data hygiene)
- Process Improvement & Technology Enablement
- Map and improve legal operations processes using Lean/Six Sigma methods
- Evaluate and implement new Legal Ops tools (ONIT, ServiceNow, Third Party Benchmarking tools); write procedures and quick reference guides; deliver training and support Vendor Management & TPRM
- Lead onboarding for law firms and legal vendors in ONIT; coordinate with Risk Analyst on Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) reviews and updates
- Manage timekeeper rate analysis, benchmarking, and approvals; support preferred-provider programs
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OCGs, billing rules, and financial controls; maintain accurate records for audits and management reporting
- Partner with Finance and AP on monthly close activities, accruals, and reconciliations
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data/Analytics, Finance, Information Systems, or related field
- 3–5 years in Legal Operations, Finance, or Analytics supporting eBilling/matter management
- Hands-on experience with ONIT eBilling platform or similar platform a plus
- Advanced Power BI/Tableau skills; strong Excel (Power Query, Pivot Tables, VBA); SQL proficiency
- Experience with Python, Power Automate, or similar scripting/automation tools
- Familiarity with ServiceNow for legal support requests
- Understanding of legal spend drivers, timekeeper structures, rate cards, and OCG compliance
- Strong process mindset and stakeholder management skills
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other legal tech platforms a plus
- Lean/Six Sigma certification or demonstrable process improvement results
Salary Range:
