Who we are looking for

This position is in Global Application Development based in Eastern Massachusetts. We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer / Analyst who is capable of reading and understanding Business User Requirements and, through thorough application review be able to translate those requirements into Functional Specifications for on and offshore team members. The candidate will be working on the Custody Settlements and Income applications. The position will entail working with the business analysts to answer questions and help refine the business requirements and from time to time be assigned programming assignments in PL/1, CICS, DB2.

As Senior Software Engineer you will:

  • Work closely with business experts to review business requirements and to create Functional Specifications for State Street’s mainframe custody applications.

  • Work with either agile or waterfall development life cycles to create technical specs/requirements from agile stores or waterfall business requirements.

  • Ensure that code is configured properly in all development lifecycle environments (Development/SQA/ Production) using IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC)

  • Perform code reviews from junior developers to prepare for production deployments.

  • Be responsible for all change management tasks and audit requirements to ensure smooth deployments of code into production (Including but not limited to, deployment plans, code reviews, Service Now tickets)

  • Design, develop and test all code developed in applicable development and/or test environments including completion of appropriate SDLC/Agile/DPF audit documentation.

  • Provide technical expertise to review/tune jobs and programs for better application and system performance.

  • Triage production issues by reviewing code and logs as needed providing scheduled 24X7 on call production support.

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Ability to analyze business requirements and develop high quality Function Specifications to be passed on to a mix of onshore/offshore developers.

  • Ability to dig into system artifacts (Code, Flows, Data Models, Topology Diagrams) in order to interpret changes necessary based on business requirements.

  • Ability to work remotely.

  • Strong communication skills, self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly responsible.

  • Strong collaboration skills, working with multiple teams in various locations across the globe.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Key hands on resource with 5-7 years of software development experience (Agile and/or Waterfall).

  • Experience with PL/1, COBOL, DB2, JCL,CICS, RTC, RDz, OPC is preferred

  • B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science or related field

Salary Range:

$100,000 - $160,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
