We are currently sourcing for a Sr. Systems/Data Analyst to work in Boston, Ma.

The Role

We (Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations Technology) are looking for a highly motivated individual to join one of our agile development squads to provide analytical excellence to our suite of corporate actions applications. We are in the midst of an exciting evolution to meet the strategic corporate actions needs of Fidelity. Primary Responsibilities

  • Gather and document systems requirements and functional specifications.
  • Work closely with clients, business analysts and software engineers to translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Prepare detailed requirements documentation and specifications including use cases, context diagrams, business process flows, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration across our distinct development tracks
  • Adhere to a project lifecycle methodology (Agile) for delivering a solution
  • Develop new workflows or modify existing workflows to meet business requirements
  • Work with cross-functional teams developing business and systems requirements, user interface design, data modeling, systems designs and systems interface specifications.
  • Support business and technology team partners as a project subject matter expert.
  • Acquire and constantly increase industry knowledge and subject matter expertise; understand competitive positioning in the marketplace as well as industry initiatives and vendor solutions.
  • Provide analysis and troubleshooting for production issues as needed
  • Play a role of a backup Scrum Master to help the team in sprint planning, execution and review, run daily scrums and manage JIRA
  • Maintain and analyze product backlog, change controls and removes any impediments that obstruct a team’s pursuit of its sprint goals

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Technology oriented BS/BA Degree or equivalent advanced degree
  • 5+ years of strong technical systems analysis experience preferably in a financial services setting. Knowledge of corporate actions an added bonus!
  • Must have strong SQL and/or PL/SQL experience to compliment your otherwise strong technical background
  • A proven track record of success in working with dynamic technology focused project teams
  • Ability to data-mine and troubleshoot issues
  • Familiarity with SWIFT messaging structure a plus

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to understand technical concept/problems and clearly translate in laymen’s terms when communicating with customers
  • Ability to independently problem solve and diagnose system issues and propose/document solutions
  • Exceptional organizational skills. Must have the ability to multi-task and to handle assignment to multiple medium to large projects with shifting priorities and firm deadlines.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and dynamic working environment.
  • Strong documentation skills - ability to capture/articulate and accurately document key points, process flows and identify work issues, etc.
  • Ability to facilitate scope definition and develop project plans.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong desire to partner with different technology teams within to deliver best in class solutions
  • Capable of acting in the capacity of a mentor for junior talent

The Team

This role embeds, in a dedicated capacity, within an agile development squad supporting that squad’s backlog. The squad is responsible for the delivery of both tactical and strategic initiatives and forms part of a larger chapter of similarly devoted squads. The chapter has overall responsibility for the delivery and maintenance of the portfolio of applications supporting corporate actions for the Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations business.
