Tour Team Student Assistant
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
Student Ambassadors will provide a positive representation of Western New England University to prospective students and their families through tours and interactions at various campus events. Additionally, Ambassadors will assist in daily office operations, including but not limited to communication plan execution, front office management, telecounseling, and data entry.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Student must be a full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing that has attended Western New England University for no less than one (1) full semester.

Normally, a Western New England University GPA of 2.50 is required. Continuation of employment will be reviewed with the Admissions Supervisor if GPA falls below. In all cases, student must be in good academic standing.

Student must be in good disciplinary standing.

Student must maintain an acceptable appearance for interaction with public visitors.

Student must successfully pass interview with Program Supervisors and training program to be hired.

Student must demonstrate skills listed above on an on-going basis subject to periodic evaluations with the Program Supervisors.
Essential Job Functions:

Student must conduct walking tours of the campus for prospective students and their families during regular Monday-Friday hours, Saturday morning shifts on a rotating schedule, at all Open House programs, and Accepted Students Day.

Student may be asked to correspond personally (by phone, mail, or email) with prospective students with regard to attending Western New England University.

Student must help to maintain application records and file confidential materials (necessitates exposure to prospective students' academic records).

Student must aid in the preparation and execution of communication plan through daily and bulk mailings.

Student must assist with data entry.

Student must attend monthly meetings scheduled by the Program Supervisors.

Student must complete other special projects as assigned as well as general office duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:
- A positive attitude toward the University.
- Ability to convey a positive impression of the University to prospective students and families.
- Ability to effectively communicate the benefits of attending Western New England University to prospective students.
- Strong oral and written skills.
- Ability and willingness to work within a team and share responsibilities for projects and tasks.
- Vast knowledge of academic programs and campus life.
- Knowledge of the location of administrative offices, labs, academic buildings, computer center, and other important offices throughout the campus.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn basic computer operations.
- Punctuality is a must as tour schedules are determined around students' schedules.
- Ability to work with personal data in a confidential manner.
ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Walking 60-75 minute tours.
- Occasional lifting and moving of boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.
HOURS:
May vary by week based on the needs of the department. Hours will include at least 1 weekday shift each week (2.5-3 hours per shift), at least 2 Saturday shifts per semester, and 5-6 required admissions events each academic year, plus required trainings.
