The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Western New England University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice position, beginning in the Spring 2026 semester. Candidates for this position must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with expertise in the area of Solid Mechanics/Machine Design or related area. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Mechanical Engineering, provide service to the department and college, and support our innovative freshman engineering program.
We seek outstanding candidates with demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring, and service. The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Show strong commitment to teaching excellence and student mentorship
- Supervise student research at the undergraduate and master’s levels
- Establish collaborative relations with local/national industries through industry-sponsored research and projects
- Contribute to curriculum development and accreditation activities
- Provide service to the department, college, university, and professional community
